D.C. Council poised to repeal online gambling
No, they don't want to miss the opportunity to get their ticket punched. If it turns out to be a good thing, they want part of it and if they have friends , they might want to shift some those contract dollars to their friends. I just don't know how the council members didn't know what they were voting for..must have been in a foreign language like English.

Retailers that say "Remember Me"
Call me paranoid, but I think you have to give it a thought. If you jokingly say sure, you can have half, and then you do win isn't that a verbal contract? There are plenty of people who'd take you to court on that and try to get a cut, even if you don't win till a year or more later.

Lottery's biggest loser: Albany man passed on office pool that won $319M jackpot
The unlucky 8th non player legally would not win a lawsuit and any lawyer who convice him other wise is a shark. His own statements prior to purchasing the tickets and not paying his share of monies is hard evidence. But, if I was amoung the lucky 7 I would offer to pay for his kids college tuitions on contract of course, that's it.

Missouri Senate to discuss privatizing state lottery
GTECH recently won a contract with Ohio. They provide the system (terminals, scratch off tickets and such) to play the games, it will be interesting to see what more they are doing for Illinois to raise that additional one and a half billion dollars.

Disputed $50M lottery jackpot partially paid out
I'm thinking about doing a small lotto pool. If I do, it's going to be among a few friends but I am going to first make a contract and make sure that it is legal for me to add a clause that says in the case of a dispute, the director (me), can determine if somebody is entitled to anything. Because I trust myself to do what is right, and because I doubt a dispute would occur within the friends I'm planning on doing this with.... It's other people outside of it that I'd be concerned about.

Canadian couple gives away entire $11.2M lottery jackpot
So you're saying their income was earned surreptitiously in some manner? They violated the terms of a contract somehow? I don't get it.
