Is everyone playing the lottery in hopes of being able to retire, what are your reasons for playing?
I play Mostly 3 digit, not going to retire on that, but if I put some extra spending dollars in my pocket, I am happy. I started my retirement fund when I was in my 20's.

Keep working vs. permenant vacation
I would retire ASAP, Been thinking about already, would spend my days in my garden, plan meaningful vacations, donate to my favorite charities, help friends and family , very quietly of course, and have the most awesome blue ray collection of my favorite movies and shoes.

Powerball hit in Va. last night
I read the article from the virginia website and it is interesting that they both said they will continue to work even after taking the cash option on their prize. They both must love their jobs and even though they got a lot of money to retire on. I think I would take a vacation!-weshar75

Would you still play Mega Millions if your state lottery's jackpot was bigger?
Yes. I play all the jackpot games in Texas every week. We don't get to choose when we win, if we should ever be so lucky, and I can retire on any of them (except Texas 2 Step).

Florida: 2/1 - 2/28/2013
Please post both! I definitely need to be a sponge and learn as much as I can by looking at what you and others are doing. It is the only way to come up with a system that works everyday. Learning from what the best are doing then piece mealing it together to come up with something to retire on for years to come. Thanks!!!

How many people are making a resolution to spend less on the lottery in 2013?
I don't spend much on lotteries and am not here to shed a negative light on those who do. Playing the lottery should strictly be for entertainment and not a last grasp to get funds to pay your bills. Having spoken frequently with a local retailer, he tells me many will drop $100-$200 a week on tickets with many being scratch offs. Half that amount could easily go toward a retirement account which would get you several millions tax free when you retire assuming you had it invested in a Roth IRA f

Are the base jackpots really too low??
I doubt anyone would complain about winning $12M, but if your goal is to simply retire and/or live an upper middle class to upper class lifestyle, an in-state Lotto game would probably be the better option considering the odds are way better, so much better that I see it as a no-brainer.

Caution or Paranoia?
Where would you retire to? Would it depend on the laws there the exchange rate compared to the US dollar or just cause you wanted to go there?
