Sex offender wins $14 million Florida Lotto jackpot
Yikes! I'm not so sure I would want those kinds of restrictions. I have no criminal record, but why would I want anyone to be keeping track of how many lottery tickets I buy or where or when? Anyone can play the lottery who is over 18. In Florida many people from other countries buy tickets. Anyone can claim their prize as long as they have the proper documents. I'm sure many illegals or people with criminal records buy them too. I wonder what would happen to the FL lottery if everyone had to

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
Coin Toss, Years ago when OhioSuper Lotto was generating jackpots of $40-$75M and people from surrounding states would cross the boarder to play, some one decided to limit each winning ticket to $20M and many people stopped playing and the game never recovered. PowerBall have a similar rule when its jackpot reaches a record amount but that is so high that it's unlikely to happen more than a few times during a lifetime. As you pointed out, most people will not make $10M in their lifetime but b

New lawsuit claims Indiana Lottery did not award all prizes
Just because they have the ability to track winning tickets before they are claimed doesn't mean it's a good idea to do it. Having a record of where winning tickets were sent can potentially be useful for security reasons, but monitoring that distribution ahead of times offers potential for fraud. I forget if it was Indiana or a nearby state, but there's been at least one case where a lottery staffer used the information on where a winning ticket had been sent to allow others to buy all of the t

The Hoosier Lottery is getting a new director. Kathryn Densborn of Indianapolis, a Republican who lost in her bid to oust Democratic state Rep. David Orentlicher in the November election, will begin work at the agency next week and will take over as director in January. Densborn formerly worked as the legislative liaison and public information officer for the state Department of Local Government Finance. From 1998 to 2005, she worked for the St. Luke Catholic Church in communications and

What is up with MM/PB
Powerball has been struggling since North Carolina joined. Mega has been struggling since it's inception as it's current game. Without a price increase or some other change I'd get used to the idea that large jackpots for either game are a thing of the past. Eventually Euromillions will hold all 10 of the top 10 record jackpot amounts unless they add Germany or some other large country without changing the odds.

Maryland is one of the six original BG states. HL added Kansas this year, and New Mexico this month. HL will be around a while longer, especially if the matrixes are changed. Plus HL currently has a record jackpot.
