Megamillions.....04/25/03
Brad:I disagree with you that the MM jackpot pool has too many people. But, if Texas decides to join MM, then a harder jackpot game WOULD be in order again.

New York Lotto Try
Everett:NY Lotto returns only 38-40% to players! If the prize pool was the usual 50%, they easily could have made 3/6 pay $3 and also add to the 4/6 prize. NY Lotto 59 began before Mega Millions came to NY, so the NY 6/59 was designed to pay chicken feed for the smaller prizes in order to be able to compete jackpot-wise with Powerball, (then) Big Game, etc.

New York Lotto $45M
Hey, $45 mil is $45 mil, no matter how much is designated for the prize pool. I agree that NJ has a better lottery, but the NJ is $6 million, while NY is $45 million. Also, the NY jackpot takes a while to get up there, so it doesn't get this big except maybe once or twice a year. Time to play it!

Take the Lump sum...not Annuity!
Clarence:Exhibit A: NY Lotto 6/59. Prize pool 38-40% of sales; lowest of any US lottery game. Last night's (3/29) prize for 5-of-6: $812.00; 4-of-6: $16.00; 3-of-6 (always) $1.00Terrible prizes even when you consider NY Lotto is two games for $1.

QUINTO (Washington state)
Cotti: Quinto has the LONGEST odds of any pick-5 game. If Quinto were to be replaced with an all-number game, the number pool almost certainly would be 39 or less. A new pick-5 most likely would give winners a better return for matching 3 or 4 numbers.

WINFALL in trouble?
smd: WINFALL has a 55% prize return, above average for a lotto game. Maybe WINFALL should have been capped at $3 million-they would still have paid out from the former game's jackpot pool Wednesday, if not also into tomorrow.

Gail Howard's Software
TG: The problem with Lotto 59 is NOT the odds, but the terrible 40% prize return, which explains why three numbers pays $1 and four numbers has won only $13. Take Five's prize pool _is_ 50% of sales. If you haven't done so, now is a good time to stop playing Lotto 59.

Cashonly
Pray that you don't win. Actually, NY Lotto is a RIPOFF because the prize pool is only 40% of sales, which explains why 3-of-6 wins YOUR DOLLAR BACK. I thought you wanted to wait until a $500 million jackpot. Better try your luck in Canada (all CASH, no withholdings). You CANNOT change your mind in NY...which means if the Brooklyn ticket is for annuity, they're SOL.
