This doesn't surprise me. Here in Louisiana, video poker was legalized back in the 1990s and many bars and restaurants installed poker machines. A new crime was breaking into these businesses after closing and taking the cash from the machines. Those machines often have a lot of money in them so it's very tempting. I don't know if anyone has ever actually stolen a poker machine, but many have been broken into around the state. Louisiana hasn't had lottery vending machines for all that long

Saw the new Scratchers vending machine at a grocery store. Sells draw games too but this one appeared to not be ready for that feature yet. Finally getting some upgrades from the decades old antiquated machines: Now if we can get some machines that cash/credit small wins, that would be even better.

Yeah, I pretty much always take my tickets to go. Helps shield you from (and not give any info to) win chasers and hawks. Very rarely, if I can find a empty store and vending machine to myself, I might do a limited win chasing. Also, taking them to go limits the tendency to overspend by chasing in store.
