It may be time to touch on long term probabilities. From the equation I generated earlier in this thread to describe the behavior of lottery jackpots, one can estimate the probability of rollovers. If this equation is predictive, I estimate that the run has a 52% probability of reaching a jackpot in the 100-110M annuity range. It has roughly an 8% chance of reaching the $315M annuity jackpot it reached in November of this year, and a 5% chance of exceeding it.

Actually it was more like only 21.4 million tickets. Powerball's press release figures include PowerPlay sales as well. The last time Powerball went up $20 million, it was overestimated. With both Powerball and Mega Millions increasing their number of combinations, jackpot fatigue has set in, and it now takes jackpots higher than $100 million to get everyone buying a ticket.

I always thought it was Samhill , LOL. Anyway, in my case why did I miss 346, 732, 053, 123!!!!!All dream numbers came up straight. Some took 30 days and then came twice!!! It will not happen even if Powerball and Mega Millions change their matrices two more times!!! In the event that does happen, both games should cap jackpots at $500 million and just spread any more money out among ALL the lower tier prizes!!

Last year the PB jackpot was hit the day before Christmas and it was only $30 million (as a matter of fact that was split by three players), and that began a lucky string of eight jackpots hit under $50 million, which drove PB to the current 5/55 + 1/42 matrix. With exception of that, every PB jackpot since 2002 (when PB went 5/53 + 1/42) has been at or above $100 million at Christmas time.
