Mega Millions lottery jackpot up-sized to $267 million
Doesn't matter any more; they'll get whatever the total is. Game over, new game starts Friday night. The only thing that matters is the winners decision. They can take it as a lump sum or take the annuity option. ONLY their opinion counts. Comes with being the winner. Option is not available to the loser(s)!

Why GA-KY-VA Lose for Life will flop
Unless a winner happens to know that he will die in less than ten years, taking a cash option for the minimum payout of $520,000 minus taxes is a sucker deal. Win for Life has a 6 of 6 grand prize of $1000 a week which is limited in duration only by the span of one's natural life. Anyone can take that cash option if it's offered in their state, but it doesn't make any sense to me. I'd rather ride that $1000 a week to my grave. I'll be playing Win for Life in every single drawing. It's just silly

Small Town Speculates On Lottery Winner
Only if they choose cash. If they make the wrong choice, they will more than double the US record for an annuity prize (1993; Powerball did not have a cash option then).

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
I'm still gonna wait until anuity reaches $100M before I buy any tickets. My gut says, don't worry about spending money until the newspapers, radio, and television start promoting the number. It is rare when a win happens before that happens. I see no need to run in front of the train, better to get on and ride with it. As soon as it hits $100M annuity, I start looking in the fridge and checking my milk supply.

N.D. Lottery director discusses new game possibilities
Any USA lottery jackpot game will most certainly be based on annuity, and prizes will absolutely be taxed. That's just the way it is in the USA, and I hate to say it, but if you spend a lot of time wishing against either of those two things, you going to be unhappy for a long time.

Last day for Lotto South
I e-mailed the GA Lottery several weeks ago, and they said GA will _not_ be offering a cash option for Lose for Life winners. Ms DeFrancisco (sic?) ran the corrupt (numerous scratch games are annuity-only, including FOUR versions of Debt for Life) NY Lottery, so it was not a total surprise that GA said there would not be a cash option.

Mega Millions lottery jackpot raised to $212 million
That $12M you're talking about splitting is annuity - and before any of the outlay that is required. In today's world, that amount over money is only bankruptcy bait. Get excited, spend it wrong, and you're down to a 4x4 in shanty town.

I wouldn't bother with it. NY Lotto is a ripoff, as I've posted many times on LP, and much of the scratch ticket merchandise is for annuity-only games.

California Super Lotto Plus Payments
Are you saying an out-of-state resident would be stuck with annuity payments? It shouldn't matter where you live. I would have sued.

I was in CA in October. The SLP slips still had the cash/annuity boxes, and I chose lump sum (since you have to do that in NY.) But the ticket did not have either choice on it.
