OR Lose for Life/PA Unlucky for Life
I think both games are fine. It's not like they are hiding how the prize is dealt out to the winners. The people who play know that it is an annuity type deal. Again, if the way the game is set up bugs you...play a game that offers cash. It really isn't a hard concept to grasp.

USA Mega adds lottery game start dates
todd:Who said I was slamming Powerball/Lotto America? Come to think of it, L*A was annuity-only, and PB didn't start its cash option until 1997...

OR Lose for Life/PA Unlucky for Life
Cash - you need to find another hobby. The lack of a cash option is predominant in the lottery business. The bottom line is the bottom line. If you won a cash option, it would be half of an annuity option, and you'd still be peeing on your boots.

PA Unlucky for Life
No, I would still play either way. But obviously the cash option is going to be lower than the annuity, so it would not be worth me playing as much then. A lifetime of checks would be a great security blanket even if you are not a millionaire technically. But the way lucky for life is set up, it actually provides MORE funds for seniors over time than a cash option would.

Oil company employees win $54 million Canada 6/49 lottery jackpot
Curious, where you gonna get this $250M cash? Remember, U.S. Federal limit is $500M; and the lottery people choose to use annuity as their base. I easily see $54M in an out of U.S. lottery, $250M isn't impossible, but then neither is Angelina Jolie adopting me as her third child. Could happen!

N.C. lottery director candidates to be interviewed next week
chewie:To me a lottery is corrupt if certain games require certain prizes to be paid through an annuity. Todd doesn't see it that way. I would use a different term if I think of it.

2 most recent Powerball winners
Missouri (where the $36 million ticket was sold) is unusual for MUSL in that a winner from there has 60 days from the DRAWING (instead of from when the ticket is claimed) in which to choose cash or annuity.

Probability of a Rollover in Powerball.
Powerball beat the odds and someone won it. The prize resets to $15M annuity, $7.2 cash. I estimate about 14,000,000 in sales which gives the following rollover probabilities: 090.86%18.71%20.42%30.01%

New Jersey Lottery
JG Wentworth, from what I have heard (and that could be wrong info) they only give what the going rate is at that moment, less a 15% fee for their services! Like I said before, this info could be wrong!I wouldn't take an annuity anyway, so I don't have anything to worry about in the first place! CASH BABY, CASH, It's The Only Way To Fly
