Plans For Your Winnings
DelS- your topic is intrigueing for it requires Planning and then Action to follow thru. . If anyone here has read your earlier post from another thread they would admire your level of thinking in preparation for the Big win!I (shudder) to say this , but Chewie is correct. 1929 happened and it can be repeated. Be cautious of the stock market .Integrating ones dreams into a planning manner is part of the fun in playing lotteries! The first thing I plan to do is TAKE CASH and not annuity! :)

Oregon businessman has record Powerball lottery ticket
Taxes have decreased, thanks to Republicans, so anyone who chose Annuity in prior years if getting the benefit of their choice through lower taxes.Saying that taxes might increase is not a very convincing statement.I do remember when the tax withholding rate was higher.

Lump sum, no matter the jackpot size for me. Think of this, you get married, you then get divored and your collecting annuity. Guess what. Your ex is rich with his/her new spouse. Suppose you get into a car accident, collecting annutiy, guess what, annunity is income and you cannot legally hide income. Meanwhile you can tie up cash however you chose it's yours. Food for thought. Cheers,

OH Lot O' Play a failure?
ew:The only thing that bothers me about LoP is the fact that the cash value is only 50% of the annuity instead of a higher floating percentage. If I had to choose between it and NY Lotto, I would try LoP, which is slightly better.

Consult an estate attorney. It can be liquidated into its cash value like anything else in the estate (real estate, cars, businesses, etc.) that may have accumulated after you spent the lottery prize. And as with the above, there are strategies to mitigate the tax liabilities upon death, such as life insurance, trusts, etc., regardless of whether it's all in cash, in an annuity, or in a mixture of different assets.

in any situation I will take the lump sum. I have thought about it for a long time and for my personal situation, that makes the most sense.here's what to do, grab a piece of aper and a pen, draw a line down the middle and on one side list the advantages of annuity and on the other the advantages of lump sum. on another sheet divide it the same and write the disadvantages of each (for your personal situation).when done, the one with the most plus entries and the least minus entries is the way to
