The Math and The Lottery
kdsjeter -If that were the case there would be a much lower percentage of those using quick picks winning jackpots than have actually occurred. I'm not saying that a good system of filters can't better the odds, it's that even the best systems don't win on a regular basis - or that they can win and are winning the lower-tier prizes and have remained unpublished and unpublicized.glj

mega millions poll
Looks like I will have some time at least to replace all my play slips. I'm really curious how CA will change the rollovers. It would be nice to have some movement in the game. Especially at the 85-200 million level where there are currently it takes 5 drawings for the jackpot to go from 85 miilion to 200 million. Several years ago it took only 3 drawings. Faster rollovers can equate to much bigger jackpots.

Lottery
S.P.: I'd be willing to chip into a pool occasionally, perhaps once a month or less frequently as huge jackpots dictated, of $ 30 if there were enough participants to raise several hundred dollars to reduce the odds significantly.

TN lotto 5 Jackpot
For Monday 6-6-05 the Jackpot is $250,000. I have only $1 invested. If no one wins tonight I'll invest $5 for Wednesday. (Note For a while we can post rollover jackpots on this thread to organize a little).

Could you see a day...
I don't really care what they charge for a ticket as long as I get a chance to win per dollar spent. Ohio has always charged a dollar per ticket even when they sold 2 chances to win per ticket for a bigger jackpots (I guess 50 cent per ticket was too much troule). Lottery players aren't very smart but I doubt if most would be willing to pay $2 for a chance to win the same prize that now cost $1 per chance to win.RJOh

40% is not enough!
I don't really care about games with low payouts (although I care about games with higher payouts, woo-hoo!). I like NY Lotto because you get two plays for a dollar, and jackpots do get big. And even though you can't say the same for the lower payouts, it's better than nothing. Look at it half full.

40% is not enough!
I'd still play I would just not play as often till the jackpots were at playable amounts. The lottery has the upper hand, if you want a chance at big bucks you have to play, people would play if the payout was 20%.

Where would you move?
I'd go just where I'm going this fall: New Mexico but near TX. That way I can have the best of both worlds: PB and Mega millions and a state lottery that rivals the 2 majors in jackpots.

mm-$106 million for 6-3-04
Damn. Mega Millions is getting above the $100 million mark so many times it's boring! Why can't they have a lucky streak of winners like Powerball had? Any chance of that happening will be nil after California joins later this month unfortunately. When that happens, I will only play Mega Millions if its annuity jackpot is at least triple Powerball's, and their jackpots will have to be at least $150 million for two tickets (instead of $75 million) and $300 million for three tickets (instead
