Powerball Cash Option
del:I don't know for sure about Maryland, but some games (certain scratch tickets, as well as MA Megabucks) are still annuity-only. Neither OR Lose for Life nor PA Unlucky for Life have a cash option.

How high will Powerball get this run?
barista:I see the new annuity LESS attractive since the payments increase each year. I don't think many winners will even consider not taking cash.

Powerball Cash Option
weshar:I seem to remember annuity values more than double the (theoretical) cash value when players didn't have a choice. Interest rates were much higher then.

Powerball Cash Option
I share the cost of the tickets with my parents so when we win the powerball we are going to take the cash option. I just thought it was interesting that the cash is lower than half the annuity jackpot.

Powerball Cash Option
I noticed that the cash option for powerball is less then half the annuity now. For a 108 million it is 53.1 million cash. I guess that is how the cookie crumbles!

They lowered the Cash Option Amount
I don't think the NJ winner will be complaining. I will if they don't choose cash. NJ requires the cash/annuity choice to be made when playing MM, but it's not binding.

PB lump sum gone down
The CVO is less than normal because the states have experienced lower sales than normal this run. The annuity is just bigger because each payment increases by the effective rate of interest each year under the new system (I think the first payment is the CVO/30), as opposed to the old system, when each payment was equal.

JAGs Euro Millions Challenge 9/16/05
Yes, I am excited and eager to see what happens soon to both Euro Millions and Mega Millions.Frankly, I hope that, more than anything else, EM rolls today AND MM rolls just two more times. Then, they would meet again next Friday with much bigger jackpots, possibly 110M tax-free cash PLUS 400+M annuity over 26 years. Two tremendously big ones from two different continents but at the almost same time.Full of fun excitement. THAT's what I wanna see here.I am ready to congratulate anyone!

$92 million
I think I will have to have a 170 cash pot minimum to play PB judging from how low the cash pot is compared to the annuity prize. I think if MM rolls it would have to cut into Powerball's sales.
