Anyone tried this? Ball weights to the last decimal digit...
Has anyone tried this before? I don't think no one has...Has anyone check for the weights of each lotto balls to the last decimal digit...I know that by standards all lotto balls of a particular lottery game have to weight the same...I know that....But what i am saying is: NOT ALL BALLS ARE GOING TO WEIGH THE SAME TO THE LAST DECIMAL DIGIT...Specially if you have a very sensitive weighing system....
For example, let's put this example of the sake of argument...I don't know how much each of th

Tennessee Lottery oversight meeting delayed
Update (Nov. 9, 2007, 11:18 am): See below for rescheduled date and time.
The Joint Lottery Oversight Committee in Tennessee, which was scheduled to meet this month to discuss the many problems recently plaguing the Tennessee Lottery, has been delayed.
The meeting was originally scheduled for November 26th.
According to a note sent by a co-chair's staff member, the delay is due to the fact that two ongoing audits have not yet been completed. Both audits will be discussed at the upcomin

Tenn. Lottery CEO claims recent errors didn't hurt sales
Lottery sponsor questions move to computerized drawings
Three recent mistakes made by the Tennessee Lottery have not hurt ticket sales, the lottery's president and CEO said, but the legislator who led the effort to create the lottery questions the lottery's move to computerized drawings.
At this point, sales in our products are up, so it hasn't had any impact that we can measure at all, Rebecca Hargrove said Wednesday. We're almost 4 years old, and we've had three incidences, which if t

Info On RNG'S
Well, I don't know if I want to get into a big debate. As I say, I'm not all that passionate about this subject.
1. There are indeed no unhackable computer systems - just as there are no unhackable physical draw systems. Anything is possible, but we deal with probabilities. The RNG needs to be built in guarded conditions, tested by an independent lab (fully with lines of code reviewed), systems built in later to self-test and create hashes, and then secured in the same way as all dr

Info On RNG'S
Respectfully, I disagree. I think the players who don't care are the ones who don't know about it, or are only casual players who play when the JP is big.
However, when even casual players find out about computerized drawings they are at first surprised (because the lottery tries to trick people into believing balls are still being used), and then the next reaction is why? When they learn even more their reaction becomes, we should switch back to balls.

Ontario lottery to be investigated
The Ontario Ombudsman will investigate allegations about insiders winning a disproportionate number of lotteries to restore public trust in the province's lottery corporation.
Andr Marin said yesterday that allegations that more than 200 ticket retailers or clerks have won prizes of more than $50,000 in the past seven years have cast a large shadow over the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. and brought into question its actions.
He said he had received few complaints from lottery-tic

How an LP major jackpot winner could help lottery players
Pumpi:
Excellent question.
Cash value, I read on another thread, is 45 percent of PB advertised jackpots now.
I have no idea how to find out ticket sales histories for PB and MM draws. However, Texas (according to a poster on another thread) published ticket sales for three MM jackpot winning draws. I backtracked those and compared ticket sales on one of those to the payout.
The result was damning for MM. They payed out $28 M (I'm relying on memory) less than ticket sales two days

Lottery: Promises and pitfalls
A look at problems and solutions of some state lotteries, as North Carolina leaders try to predict their own problems to come.Art Johnson isn't a big gambler but plays the Florida lottery on occasion. No, not because it will help the Palm Beach County School District, where he is superintendent. I want to win, Johnson said with a laugh.Ask him about the lottery's funding for education and Johnson is a lot less jovial. I'm unimpressed, said the former principal and school board member who now h

Maryland Lottery a case study in the science of random numbers
The Maryland Lottery provides a good example of why true lottery ball machines are much better than a computerized drawing for choosing lottery numbers. This is the super-secret lottery vault. It's 90 minutes before Tuesday's lunchtime picks, and Patrick Morton, the 35-year-old drawing manager for the Maryland State Lottery Agency, is only half joking as he hovers over a small keypad deep inside the studios of WJZ-TV.Beside the keypad is a large metal door - locked, alarmed, monitored by camera.
