Mega Millions lottery jackpot to be a quarter-billion for Friday
There was a time in Michigan that Lottery winnings were not taxed, then the state changed their mind and all past winners getting annuties had to pay. That is why I would not take an annuity. The government (state, local or Federal) could change the tax rate on winnings and you could be out many millions more.If I won this kind of money, I would hire a team of CPA's, lawyers and financial planners with the understanding that they would be audited by a different, independent CPA every year. As Ro

Mega Millions lottery jackpot to be a quarter-billion for Friday
jimmy:I still won't take annuity. I'd hate to see someone in NY or TX hit on a 26 annual payments ticket, since they CANNOT change their mind if they win.

PB annuity
diva:Ohio used to pay cash winners only 44% of the Super Lotto Plus annuity (it's now 50% in the soon-to-be-ending game.) Colorado Lotto cash winners originally got only 40%.

$200 Million lottery jackpot has Mega Millions players' attention
Whoever wins $123M (cash) and works it into banruptcy, will also take the $200M (annuity) and work it into a loosing scenario. The opposite is true if they make money - or stay even. They are going to do what they are going to do. As the members of the LP have proven, those with strong wills are going to think and do what they want, no matter what other opinions are provided. Those who are not strong willed, will still be thinking about options years from now.

Mass. Lottery sales hit record high
Massachusetts players love having choices between games, and within games. That's why Keno and Numbers are so popular. If Megabucks had a cash option, it would probably help, because players would then have a choice within that game, cash or annuity. Maybe they should give Mass Cash players the option to wager different amounts, like in VA and their Cash 5. Something like this.

Lottery scam targets Minnesota residents
Soooooo....Are people mainly winning this on quick picks, or on numbers they've picked themselves?Do the scammers offer the option of paying them lump-sum ($2000 minus taxes) , or annuity?Do these folks mainly prey on the elderly? And so on.Jack

Mass. Lottery sales hit record high
Ca$h Winfall would have outsold Mega$.uck$ for the year if CW had been around a year. If MA wants to become the nation's #1 lottery, it needs to stop forcing Mega$.uck$ and scratch game winners to receive annuity payments.

CA MM Cash Value Less Than Other States?
In the how to play section of the california website it says that the cash value of the jackpot is pari-mutuel and it is roughly 40% to 50% of the advertised annuity jackpot. It is different from the other mega million states.

Lotto Texas - World's Worst Jackpot Game?
You can complain about your games all you want. I still say the worst US jackpot games are MA Mega$.uck$ (still annuity-only) and NY Lotto 59 (38%-40% prize return; 3/6 always $1). By contrast MA Ca$h WinFall probably is the best game.

MM and PB jackpots
Powerball's annuity jackpot only jumped $7 million from 9/3 to 9/7!? Their cash value option jumped only $4 million? That's weird, because according to http://www.lottoreport.com/salescomparison.htm , the states sold over $14 million worth of Powerball tickets (not including PowerPlay) for the 9/3 drawing, and that's normal for the $53 million level, so the estimated CVO should have increased by more than $4 million.
