So does anyone know the cash pot in PB,MM
This is why both games should get rid of the annuity option and just pay out jackpot prizes in cold hard cash only. Both games should have a guaranteed starting jackpot of $7.5 million cash, with minimum rollovers of, say, $1.5 - 2 million cash.

There are forumlas for figuring out the cash value and annuity values. They are not simple equations, but rather complex models based on interest rates, sales numbers, estimation of sales, etc. The FAQ pages at USA Mega gives some insight into it, but the entire model is not laid out in detail anywhere.

I Sense A Little Hostility
Quite a few few ?? Well, in my opinion, Michigan is the worst.Rolls of no more than $200,000 will take the JP FOREVER to get to anywhere NEAR a level at which I would start playing it.Other than Annuity-Only (hee hee hee), what are the good benefits?

The cash value is the amount expected from ticket sales, the jackpot amount is that cash plus the expected returns if lottery invest the cash over the annuity period. When the interest rates change so will the percent of the jackpot to the cash value.RJOh

Mega Millions or Powerball?
Now that we know what the cash option % of the annuity should be for Powerball, whether PB or MM reaches 363m first would be a toss-up IMHO if PB didn't have the Match 5 bonus.

PB annuity
Makes Euromillions look better every day. I think if the prize were below 50% cash it would be a fraud to advertise any annuity jackpot.

PB annuity
The cash amount is going to be alot less since the advertised jackpot is with 30 years of growing payments. Pretty soon they will go with a 50 year annuity, so they can advertise 100 million jackpots on a 20 million jackpot.

Financial analyst looks at lottery jackpot cash/annuity options
It is for the people who offer the annuities as representative of the value of the jackpot. It is for the people who want to have control of those annuity funds for thirty years. For them it's the only reasonable option.Jack

how about just buy a stock index fund and lock in for 25 to 30 years? from past performance, you can get at least 10%/year. everybody can do that. annuity is NOT an option.
