$220M lottery winner wants to be billionaire
If I want to live confortably, I would take annuity. No need to worry about how to invest. One less thing to worry about, less and less things to worry about, not even about how to arrange and spend money; isn't that the plan? If I want the money to do something, I would take lump sum. Right now I still want to do something. No body mention reinvest money into lottery? :)

CA adopting 60-day rule for MM
While the lower-tier prizes will be pari-mutuel, CA joins the majority of Mega Millions states in allowing the cash/annuity choice to be made after winning. (Only NY and TX require the choice when playing.) I went to the CA Lottery website, and saw nothing on the 60-day rule for Super Lotto Plus.

New Game
In 1985, but only for several weeks, NY had Lotto 40, Lotto 44, and Lotto 48 (each game was weekly). All three were annuity-only, all paid back only 38%-40%. All three had lower-tier prizes.

Lottery winner claims simplicity is key to happy life
Yeah, but a winner who chooses annuity could still foolishly end up borrowing against future payments, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. If one is careless with money, he or she will probably end up blowing his or her winnings in a short period regardless of payment option.

cash vs. annuity
looks like in Virginia you can convert your future annuity payments to cash at anytime.. there's no need for winner's remorse if you change your mind. http://vawinners.com/index.html

N.M. Lottery introduces first joint lottery/tribal casino game
The Report Card will be improved in the future to include scratch games, which actually may help the NM Lottery raise their grade up higher. For example, if they offer a wide variety of games, plus have cash/annuity options for their scratch games, these positives will improve their rankings. There is nothing below F, by the way.

mega millions and powerball jackpot poll
If the person is not responsible with money, then neither option is better than the other. Even if such a person chose annuity, he or she would probably end up borrowing against future payments.

Lottery winner claims simplicity is key to happy life
Taking the present cash value and investing will get you more money over time than the lottery's annuity. Plain and simple. Cash now = more money. Why is this so tough?

Texas Lottery considers changing jackpot calculation
rj:I'm not confused. I know that if I hit Powerball, I will choose lump sum, and I will receive the full amount of the jackpot pool in cash, which currently is more than half of the annuity amount.
