would you play in a jackpot pool
What would be the advantage of joining a lottery pool with a bunch of strangers that have a LP membership that you have never seen compared with joining a lottery pool of friends, family and co-workers that you see every week or so? LP members come and go and change their names all the time, I wouldn't even join a local pool if I only knew the members by their INTERNET or CB handle unless I was handling all the money myself.

Do you suffer from "oneoffitis"?
I think anyone who has been playing lottery games for awhile feel your pain (note: congrats to those who win the jackpot the very first time you play...but it sux 4 us who have been playing a long time and only winning the bottom two or three tier prizes like $1 - $7...having the winning combo and not playing it for that draw doesn't count...really sux!). I am going to try to change the rules about annonymity...
One way to stay anonymous is to join a lottery pool. Everyone that's interested in such things have heard of an office or a factory lottery pool winning a jackpot, but I doubt if anyone ever remembers who was in it. Besides being in a lottery pool increases your odds of winning something and if a jackpot is won it dilutes the notoriety as well as the winnings for everyone.

working out syndicate groups?
You may want to insist that this odd person accept the list of tickets, or else they can't play in the pool. What if one of your personal lottery tickets (not one in the pool) wins? Can she say that it was one of the ones in the pool? It may be a weak argument, but there have been many court battles like that. And that's what all of this is to avoid.
