cash vs. annuity

cash vs. annuity
How much the jackpot that I would win would be a factor in my decision making. But if I had to decide I would say anything under 100 million I would take the cash and over it I would choose annuity.

WARNING to NY Lottery players
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on February 17, 2005 Take the lump sum, and THEN invest your winnings. That's exactly what I'd do. If you can find a high-yield savings account or CD, you'll get more money over the same length of time as you would with an annuity. Not a whole lot more, but still more.

Quinto now at 4.22 million
And that's cash. No annuity. For a pick 5 that has to be a record. True the odds are 2.6 million to one but still its the same as a regular state lottery hitting 8.5 million. Now if only I could come up with the right cards.

WARNING to NY Lottery players
Annuity-Only, that's the worst part?! How about it's rediculous 1 in 5 overall odds. Now that's corruption.

Free Ticket.
PA really doesn't offer free tickets anymore. they do with one or two games, but that's really it.When i came to OU, almost all of the $1 tickets offered a free ticket instead of $1 or more, and i hated constantly winning free tickets instead of cash. there are some states that still do offer free tickets as prizes.CASH Only: I do not consider anuity-only prizes as communism because there is a loophole around that. There are people who will buy out the rest of the annuity in cash.

Delaware Lottery looking for $7.7 million winner
DE needs to learn to be patient. Compared to normal Lotto jackpots, this is quite a bit. The winner may want to consult a financial planner before claiming their ticket, even though the winner doesn't have the option of choosing cash or annuity. They may just want to know what to do with their money.

Mega Millions when CA joins
CA will have pari-mutuel prizes (state law) and presumably like NY and TX, require the cash/annuity choice to be made when you play. There is the possibility of a $250,000 (fixed) second prize; the 5/71 proposal could have a 2+0 category.

"Posting Numbers"
by the way I discarded the vote,.... I do believe he hit 4+0 when he did.....and like others I dont think he wants to post his numbers here,,,,,,I don't see him claiming constant winners,,,,or bragging about a system.....however sometimes I wish I could win the jackpot and claim annuity just to P**s him off!
