Very interesting thread you have here and I certainly agree with so much of what you discuss but, it kinda seems to be over simplified when it comes to the wagering costs versus the ROI's you mention. Maybe the person bought it as part of a pool and is taking advantage of the anonymity laws to screw his fellow poolmates. Now he has to fake his death and change his whole identity before he claims it, which of course takes time and careful planning. Who cares at this point since we'll never know?
