Rick G:I go to the library to get on the Internet. As for the USA being the best country in the world, if only it would stop taxing lottery winnings, and outlaw mandatory annuity payments to lottery winners...

My Made-Up State's Lottery
Well, the players said they wanted shorter annuity periods, that's what they got. And as far as the age thing, let's just say NK is liberal, Very, Very liberal. Like Norway this place. So let's just forget about 'dat. I dont want this thread to be an argument about the best min. age.

My Made-Up State's Lottery
you have a few good ideas (especially the 6/66 one). you should try to pitch those ideas to states. the only thing is that annuities have longer periods now. states are moving to 30-year annuities because they can get more money out of the same amount of cash, or less cash required for a certain annuity amount.

What's your LEAST favorite lottery game?
I dislike PA Lucky for Life - but not because it's annuity. I dislike it because you can't advance play it. I only travel into PA once every 2 weeks to buy Powerball and PA Match 6. I would like to play the Lucky for Life but can't play for more than 1 drawing at a time.

For some lottery winners jackpot is a 'nightmare'
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on November 22, 2004 Not a nightmare for the newest Mega Millions winner-reports say he chose CASH...the problem is not people who choose to take thre anuity. it's those who take the annuity, but consolidate the remaining payments to a lump sum.

What's your LEAST favorite lottery game?
I have a number of choices: MA Megabucks (still annuity-only); NY Lotto 6/59 (only 38%-40% returned in prizes); OR, PA, WA Lucky/Win for Life (lifetime prizes DO NOT belong in online games).

missouri and wisconsin lotteries
they have been losing revenue for a while. look at their in-state jackpot games. the annuity amounts only go up by $0.1 million each draw, and it takes WI 6-10 draws to get past $1 million. the badger 5 jackpot starts at only $10,000, and it takes weeks without winners before the jackpot gets worthy of playing.

Checkout clerk: 'You've had a big win, sir'
that isn't the first time a clerk has told someone they won big. an IN player left a $12.8 million (annuity) powerball jackpot ticket with a store clerk to check while he was running errands, and when he got back, the clerk told him he won the jackpot. it really isn't a good idea. the clerk could have run off and cashed the ticket.

Lottery corruption
there are pros and cons to this.the only reason i'd take the cash would be that if i knew i wouldn't be around long enough to get all the payments.on the same token if i blew money really bad i'd take annuity,i might go broke this year but i got next next year to look forward to.....

California lottery winner shot to death in Seattle
You have to wonder why the group chose the annuity (CA requires the choice to be made when you play). How many of the 13 would have chosen cash if they played solo?
