Home just got sweeter for lottery winners
Most people do buy QP's. I agree with that from what I read. It's how many jackpot winners that were QP's, is what I find hard to believe. Gail Howard wrote, if the majority of tickets sold are QP's, then it makes sense that the majority of jackpots won should be with QP's---at least that is what I used to think . The info I posted in my last post is what she continued saying. That would mean Gail Howards findings are wrong.

Home just got sweeter for lottery winners
75% of jackpots... Wow, more people must be buying QP's these days. How fast things change. Last I read in Gail Howard's book, for NY Lotto more than half did buy QP's, but QP's accounted for only 38% of the winners. Less than 50% of jackpot winners did not use QP's. In Canada, 47% of tickets sold were QP's, but only 20% of the jackpot winners were QP's.

$40 Million NY Lotto - Biggest Jackpot in the World!
I think it's more a statement about powerball and megamillions that a 40 million pot is higher. People that claim jackpots aren't important aren't looking at the sales figures.

$40 Million NY Lotto - Biggest Jackpot in the World!
Check out the Lottery Post Lottery Jackpots page, and you'll see that New York Lotto has the highest jackpot in the world right now!The great part about playing NY Lotto at NY Lottery online is that you get 10 tickets for $10. (As opposed to most lottos, which are 5 tickets for $10.)

NY Lotto v FL Lotto
You can definately tell that NY Lotto was made for big jackpots and not lower tier prizes. If they raised the percentage to 60%, or even 50%, it would be much better, if not better than Florida Lotto. And it takes a lot for me to admit that (I'm a FL native, and literally grew up with FL Lotto).

PowerBall 12-15-04: The Pigskin Challenge
Quote: Originally posted by ryanm on December 16, 2004 There weren't even any $5,000 winners with PowerPlay. If these crazy Powerball jumps continue, the PB jackpot may be larger than the MM jackpot after a few draws, even if nobody wins either jackpot.I try to compare both the jackpots by their cash value. Even if PB was at $25 million like MM right now, the cash value for MM will be higher.

Record Powerball lottery winner's life a mess after big win
There should be a petition to claim jackpots annonymously. I know why the lottery says they make the names public. But since more and more lotteries are drawing their numbers annonymously (ie: via computer), why can't the players claim it that way without having to go through the trouble of making up a trust?

Idea for PA
Replace Unlucky for Life with a 6/59, two plays for $1, but pay 53% (same as Match-6). Jackpots may start lower than NY Lotto, and increase slower, but, the lower tier prizes ($3 for matching three numbers, occasionally $100 for matching 4/6 and $5000 for 5/6) would be shockingly higher than the current NY 6/59, which of course pays out ONLY 38%-40%.The bordering Connecticut and Massachusetts pick-5s are exactly alike except for the four-number prizes, the frequency for drawings, and the CT Kick

Winning Powerball lottery ticket sold in Pennsylvania
If you noticed all the large jackpots for the powerball the winners have come from the northeast states. Since the powerball started in Tn there have been alot of $100,000 winners also using the power play option. nobie23
