The Kelly Criterion
Back in August, jwhou started an interesting Topic on the Kelly Criterion and did some calculations applying it to Jackpot Lottery Games. That Thread is now closed so I opened this one to draw attention to recent discussion of the concept by Don Catlin at Casino City Times. He published the 2nd part of a 3 part series of articles on this subject early this month. I think the 3rd part will be out early in April, giving you time to catch up.
The Kelly Criterion can be used to optimize your lott

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
This article discusseses some research results that I think can help all of us better understand some of our perceptions, especially in regard to our understanding and interpretation of random events. I believe the reason why two people can observe the same scene, or painting, or string of numbers, and arrive at two distinctly different conclusions about what they see, is a fascinating area for research. This article is a starting point to try to understand these differences.

Winning at NY Take 5
I've been looking for a new method on how to pick numbers for Take5. So I did a search on the web, and I found an article that I'm sure isnt new news , but it offered a suggestion of how to pick numbers that I havent tried before. I'll try anything once, so I did a little analysis on my Take5 spreadsheet, as was suggested by the article I read.
Basically the article said to study the last 3 to 6 drawings of the game you like to play. Then it asked: How many times can you find two or more of

Help Eliminate Computerized Drawings
How is it in favor of the player when they rotate tubes, machines and do multiple pretests? They disturb the natural flow of chaos.
In fact, when I was living in N.Y. years ago, I read an article in the New York Daily News of a lottery official answering a question posed about the pretests, and the official clearly stated it was done to reduce any patterns that may form. I wish I saved the article because I was having this debate back then with co-workers. I showed them the article and they

What Does It Take To Win (Mathematically Speaking?)
The attacks on the 1975 study as out of date don't even confirm that the article was read, since it was merely a reference that was mentioned in the paragraph I included as an excerpt.
The article mentions people overestimating probabilities and the 1975 study is about people overestimating the value of self picked lotto tickets. Only the findings of 1975 study are shown in the article and no mention is made of how the participants choose their self picks. If 75% of the draining history inc
