I buy books of tickets all the time. Your expected value back from a book is usually 50-70% depending on the ticket price. Unless you hit a big one you will usually always lose buying a book. When I buy a book for 30 $20 tickets I usually know I am going to lose $250. I am willing to risk that $250 going after a top prize.
