Time for Illinois lotto to fall
But still a long way from the record of 69.9 million which was in april of 1989..
When you look back at some of the games in that era with similar matrix sizes that produced jackpots that size, you have to wonder how such large jackpots were ever generated.
Ohio had a 6/44 game for 50 ('86-'89) and later a 6/47 game for $1 that generated jackpots of $20M - $70M often, even players from other states came to Ohio to play. Are players playing smarter today the reason those size matrix can't

Why do people play QP's?
The total sales per draw matters because if the number of QP's per jackpot winning draw is 10:1 ratio to self-picks, then of course QP's are going to win more jackpots than self picks, that is a given. This is the same lame argument that others cry about low population states never winning jackpots compared to high population states. If for each jackpot winning draw the same number of people played QP's versus Self Picks and the QP's prevailed then you would make a believer out of me. But you an

Not only that but i noticed that the top predictors, there is like a 4/5 every week, YOU HEARD ME RIGHT, Once a week there is a 4/5 sometimes two...If we can play more combinations of the predictors meaning is predictors can post more predictions we have an increase chance of getting not only 9 jackpots in 1 year, but 1 jackpot every week...That's 48 up to 96 Pick5 jackpots in 1 y

MI and OH need new games
I don't know about Michigan's Classic Lotto47 but Ohio's Classic Lotto (6/49) is the state's attempt to recapture the glory days of its Super Lotto Game (6/49) but those players are now playing MegaMillions or the Rolling Cash5 games. Even before Ohio added MegaMillions, players had started going out of state to play either the PowerBall or the BigGame and now MegaMillions have them staying in state.
When you say those games should be replaced what you really want is a game that generate jack

powerball changes
The last change to Powerball was jutified because there were too many jackpots being hit; thus the increase in ball numbers. To passify the players, they slightly raised the prizes and dreamed up that dumb annuity spread. Once again the passifier would be larger jackpots. The price for higher jackpots? More balls, thus greater odds. You can't get higher jackpots without higher odds. Baisic fact of life. I would like to see them be compatible with MegMillion's prize amounts, while keeping the pow

Mega Millions and Powerball's Less than Exciting Jackpots
Lotteries are all about being statistically average, and in the long run it will all average out. A run of bigger jackpots can only be more common if there are also periods when smaller jackpots are more common.
For MM there are just over 175 million possible combinations, so we should expect 1 winner for every 175 million tickets that are sold. With about 30 cents from each ticket going to the jackpot we could expect that jackpots would average about $56 million for the cash option. Over

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
I think that people are so desensitized to money as a result of media exposure to celebrity life, that 100 million just isn't as appealing as 300, or better yet, 400. Would I like to win 100 million dollars, you bet, but I would spend more on playing if the jackpot was over 300 million. And it doesn't seem to be helping that the Mega Millions and Powerball Lotteries have rarely seen large mega jackpots in the last year. I think people aren't playing because people are winning when jackpots are

Powerball Back-to-Back Jackpots Set Record
Just when it seemed as if the Powerball game had broken all records, yet another milestone has been set with the current jackpot of $220 million: It's the first time two consecutive jackpots have surpassed $200 million.
The staggering $220 million jackpot for tomorrow night's drawing follows the last record-setter of $365 million, won in February by a group of eight third-shift workers at a meat-packing plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The last time two big jackpots paired up was in 2003, when

Powerball lottery sales, starting this morning, going smoothly
@ryanm:I'm not so sure you are correct when you say they would be out of business. Powerball has a minimum annuity jackpot of $15 million. At a cash value of less than 50% that's still $7 million. Even if you paid the maximum amount of Federal withholding (35%) and a state tax of 5% (Indiana's is 3.4%) that is a total of 40% or $2.8 million leaving a balance of $4.2 million. And they are still generating revenue for the states at that. If I remember correctly 29 cents of every sales dollar go
