Lottery Ticket Loser Says He Won't Give Up
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on August 21, 2004Any story that has to do with someone winning an annuity bothers me.Any story about other people winning some money bothers a lot of people, not just you. If the ticket had remained in the trash and nobody won, he probably would be happier.RJOh

Mega Millions vs. Powerball?
The two games have the same 50% payback. Four of the Powerball states do not allow 18-year-olds to buy tickets, while Mega Millions members NY and TX require the cash/annuity choice to be made when you play. Of course, only TX has the Megaplier.

Mega Millions group
Should their be multi-state scratch games among the Mega Millions states? I would be concerned that the Mass and NY tickets (and possibly TX) would be annuity-only, while the same game in the other eight states would have a cash option.

$1,000 A Week For Life!
If someone plays a game knowing that there is no cash option (only annuity), and they win, then I don't see the problem. Maybe I'm missing something. If you don't like the payment options, well, then play another game.HOWEVER, I do support the efforts of Cash Only to lobby the lotteries to offer a cash option for all games. I say to the lotteries, why not? They pay out the same amount of money either way, so what's the problemo?

Lottery corruption
dude. remember when you didn't have the cash option? seriously. mass pays out somewhere in the 70% range to the players, and they are going to offer a game with an all cash jackpot, plus they have mass cash. also, NY offers the cash option on their online games. in fact, it's the dewfault on lotto and mega milions. also, the option to play those annuity scratch games is completely up to you.

Powerball or Megamillions...
I would prefer CA selling Powerball tickets, as1) CA joined MUSL because of the shelved international game;2) Powerball players make the cash/annuity choice only after they win (CA Lotto players still must choose when they play.) Mega Millions bettors in NY and TX have to choose when they buy their tickets, unlike the other nine Mega Millions states.

Lucky Iraq vet scratches way to lottery riches
Me too. 140,000 per year is just fine with me. I am still having nightmares about people who invested all of their money and went broke..(Enron, etc)..maybe in these uncertain times, it is better to have an annuity...that way if u lose x number of dollars in one year..you always have x more coming in the next year.

Lucky Iraq vet scratches way to lottery riches
CO:I'm not trying to speak for Vince, but I think what he may be talking about is calling a guy who served our country and then won the lottery (a truly deserving person if there ever was one) a loser for life .All of us who understand your viewpoint on Mass annuity-only games understand you weren't railing the guy - rather you were making the point about his lack of ability to choose a cash option. However, you may want to make your point without calling the guy a loser. He's a winner in every
