In US I would only join a pool if I were the one keeping the ticket... In sweden Svenska Spel offers automatic Lotto Pools online, all players add money to the account, every one can make a bet and the winnings are automatically distrbuted among the members.

The weekly drawing periods certainly provides incentives to buying throughout the promotion, especially considering that those periods will have a much smaller pool of tickets in the drawing. @ BuyLow - True, the probability of winning in the first drawing is going to be so much lower because it will have the most tickets clustered in that drawing (likely 125k range is what I'd estimate). This is only based on the last two, 5180 and 5947. I had 8802 and 5377. So 2 digits showed in each 80 first, and then 57. I have 5134 for tonight. I have a list with a lot of numbers that have those digits in it and they're all meant for evening play. So tonight I'm really crossing fingers and hoping tonight's the night for one of those . In Wisconsin unclaimed prize money is used to offset property taxes. In Ohio it is used to fund K-12 education programs. In New York the monies are returned to the prize pool. I don't see how you are assuming the lottery benefits in any way. The ticket is a bearer instrument. You can not be the bearer without the instrument. It's really as simple as that.
