Kentucky Lottery approves adding Mega Millions
The Kentucky Lottery Corporation's board of directors has approved a cross-selling agreement allowing sales of the Mega Millions multi-state jackpot game in the Commonwealth.
Tentatively set to go on sale in Kentucky at the end of January 2010, lottery players will have both Mega Millions and Powerball available as multi-state multi-million dollar games.
Drawings for Mega Millions are held Tuesday and Friday nights, while Powerball drawings will continue to be held Wednesday and Saturday n

Store owner guilty of stealing lottery ticket, claiming it as his own
Faces up to 14 years for claiming $5.75 million prize
A former convenience store owner pleaded guilty Thursday to fraudulently claiming a $5.75 million winning Canada Lotto 6/49 ticket as his own.
Hafiz Malik, 62, validated the lottery ticket at his now-closed convenience store near Dufferin Street and Dupont Street in June 2004 but didn't tell his customer she had won the jackpot.
Seven months later, he claimed the prize, according to an agreed statement of facts read out in court.

D.C. officials were told last year that lax enforcement of security procedures made it possible for a handful of contract employees to steal tens of thousands of dollars in lottery tickets and prize money, according to records released this week in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed with the D.C. The Ontario Provincial Police will announce Wednesday that they have laid a set of charges following investigations into insider lottery wins in Ontario.

Tenn. Lottery asks firms to pay cost for error
Letters seeking $1.4 million are sent to 2 vendors
Tennessee Lottery officials have asked two vendors to pay a total of $1.4 million to make up for losses caused by a computer coding error that compromised the Cash 3 and Cash 4 games in August.

Okla. Lottery Commission struggles to meet its 35% profit requirement
As a result of the finance and audit committee's dreary budget forecasts for fiscal year 2008, the Oklahoma Lottery Commission is planning to trim costs and attempt to get a key statutory requirement of the commission eliminated.
The board plans to try to amend out a requirement that the Lottery Commission post a 35-percent profit in their third year of operations.
