last tax year, the federal top tax rate was something like 39.6%YOU, after winning are responsible for paying the rest in installments during the rest of that tax year... choose annuity and do it EVERY year you get a check. This is but one of the many reasons that 1/2 to 2/3 of winners of 1,000,000 or more end up WORSE off than they were before they won... within 2 years...

PA's Stupid-6 finally hit
Well it would have been 1 year worth of rollovers on November 12th, but it appears that someone hit the Stupid 6 tonight. The PA Lottery website is having trouble right now, so I don't know if their was multiple winners, but they do list Tuesday's drawing as being for $500,000 Annuity/$300,000 Cash.

Texas signs contract with Mega Millions; game to begin soon
If TX were to dump Mega Millions and switch to PB, then MUSL presumably would force TX to allow the cash/annuity choice to be made the same as in all other MUSL jurisdictions.

Texas signs contract with Mega Millions; game to begin soon
Multiplier available only in TX? I bet Texas will join NY as the only Mega Millions states to require the cash/annuity choice to be made when you PLAY instead of after winning.

wash. state lotto numbers
Diva:WA Lotto is fine the way it is (perhaps the cash value should be 60% or more of the annuity.) Replace Quinto with an all-NUMBER (and fewer numbers than 52) game, and retire Lucky for Life .

Mass. Lottery needs to replace 2.2M defective scratch tickets
Vince:Some scratch games in Mass. and NY (and the 6/42 and 6/49 games in Mass.) DO NOT allow winners to choose lump sum in lieu of the annuity. That is arguably corruption; it's wrong regardless. All lottery games, online or scratch, SHOULD allow the player/winner to choose the cash value if the advertised amount is annuitized (except for lifetime prizes).

Georgia Lottery Board launches national search for CEO
Georgia can have DiFrancesco. NY needs someone who will push for all scratch prizes to be paid in lump sum, give Mega Millions players (within NY) the right to choose cash/annuity AFTER winning, and a 50% prize return in Lotto (currently 40%; a 3/6 match wins $1).

Mass. Lottery needs to replace 2.2M defective scratch tickets
All the Jubilee scratch tickets (and of a number of other scratch games) are defective because the top prizes are annuity-only. AFAIK all the $200,000 prizes mentioned above are paid in lump sum.
