Next "Huge" jackpot??
This is the correct information from what I read off of the Powerball website. The current Powerball record is $365 million annuity set in 2006. Therefore you can only increase the next record run by an increment of $25 million annuity as stated in the match 5 bonus prize pool rules. So the next jackpot would be $390 million annuity and if that jackpot is not won it will only increase to $415 million annuity. The rest would go into a match 5 bonus prize pool to be distributed to the 5+0 winn

Lots of rollovers here since the price increase as well.. Seems like no one wants to play anymore due to the scandals.

scratch-off tickets experiment
I have been reading these posts and enjoy them very much. I do play scratch off tickets and I usually buy 10 or 20 from the same game to increase my chances (1$ or 2$ games). Now I have been saving up some money and I want to try something new: I want to buy a whole book of 5$ tickets (It will cost 250$). But at the same time I don t know if I d be better off spending that 250$ on maybe 3 different 5$ games (maybe buy 15 tickets from each game). If you have tried a similar experiment or have an

Wisconsin Lottery to hold raffle draw May 1
Wisconsin just copied what Illinois did with their raffle...which sux. I liked Florida and California's raffles in that multiple $1M prizes where up for grabs. I don't get to hung up on the slight increase in odds...hell, I religiously play MM and PB so obviously I am not hung up on dismal chances of winning. It's just that it is so common for only one person (or family) to win the mega jackpot and state lotto games, so at least when states offer a raffle game, they actually have the opportun

MM raised to $275M
The increase of $59 million from the previous draw for the estimated annuitized jackpot is the largest increase in a jackpot since Mega Millions went to the new matrix when California joined in June of 2005. Lottery fever is alive and well, once you get over $250 million!!!!

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
The odds are long either way, but yes people are smart enough to know that 75million:1 odds are much better than 150million:1. Whether it's rational to play at all is another question altogether. If your suggesting the odds don't matter then why not just up them to 500million:1? You think people would still play? The fact is that odds do matter, but more importantly odds changes matter more. People know when they increase the odds 25 percent that what is really happening is that players are

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
I agree! If you want better odds, play another game, there's certainly plenty out there. I also think it would be a good idea to increase smaller prize amounts as well as odds, but I think the larger odds for the jackpot should remain the same. Maybe increase the number of bonus balls and decrease the general pool of balls? I know I get excited when the jackpots grow, I never really think I'll win and typically play $5 a draw when the pot grows to 100 mil and $10 when it gets to 200. I always r

[C++ Code]A Quick Pick generator for PowerBall and Mega Miilions
No problem. The real reason why I posted the code is because a quick pick generator is indeed the most basic type of lottery number generator there is, however, modifications can be made to increase your odds of winning a prize in the lottery. Now, I'm not going to just post every single one of the algorithms that I use in my own version right away because I want this to be a learning experience for the people who are interested in coming up with their own algorithms. There are literally hundred

Won $7 in PB 1/10 (3+0)
NY had a Republican governor for 12 years (until Spitzer took over January 1) and the Lotto payout stayed the same, although scratch games in 1999 saw the payout increase from 55% to 65%. The notorious 40% payout also applies to promotional games (eg King Kong Millions, Millennium Millions;) however, the payout for the upcoming Raffle to Riches will be 50%. Therefore is RtR not a promtional game (maybe an occasional game?), or did the NY legislature increase the payout on promtional games?
