Not sure where to put this question (D3)...
Fascinating, Garyo! And if you remove the doubles, you get a pool of 45, of which 10 now are repeats. (I'm taking them out, because the straights vs. box odds for doubles is different than singles.) What percentage is 10 of 45?... Appx. 22%, very close to 1/6th... which is what we'd expect to shake out when it comes to boxes vs. straights (6 boxes, of which 1 would be a straight match). This fits my theory, then, that the numbers are (a) chosen first as to positioning, above/below/beside, and th

Breakfast buddies file suit over lottery ticket
If everyone in the pool is cooperative photocopies handed out ahead of time might prevent problems, but if there's a dispute they probably won't mean anything since the only thing they can conclusively prove is that tickets with those numbers were photcopied. Your fellow pool members might accept them as proof that you bought the right number of tickets, but if you also bought a significant winner that you claim doesn't belong to them there's nothing but their honesty to prevent them from simply

SoCal man sues to get share of $315 million lottery jackpot
This exact same thing ocurred about two years ago in NJ where the Sate Superior Court Judge ruled in favor of the planitiff. The guy missed work the day the pool money was due and the pool subsequently hit the Pick 6 for 35 million dollars. Pools have to start being more legal and formal now; hire a lawyer before your pool hits and draw up pool rules and have a pool contract where everyone in the pool agrees to the rules. This is getting ridiculous...avoid pools, or get a Lottery Pool Contrac

Joys of running a lottery pool
In my pool, we haven't had to deal with that yet. One time we won $52, which was enough to pay for an additional pool. I took a poll asking if the members wanted more tickets, a free pool, or cash and most voted for a free pool. If we win an amount large enough to be taxed, I guess I'll do a distribution. We have 11 people in our pool.

Please help me gain a better understanding of percentiles.
I have a MM/PB system that creates a pool (array) of numbers that favors cold numbers. If a number was drawn last, it gets one ball entered into the array, two draws back gets two balls , etc. For the MM, the number 9 came up on Mar 11, so it gets one. The number 11 came up on Mar 7, so it gets two. It only gets a number based on the last time drawn, so the number 11 that came up on Feb 7 does not count. Additionally, most drawn numbers, such as 23 and 35 which have come up 7 times, those common

Should we establish a POWERBALL Pool online?
I was pondering about creating a POWERBALL pool online, but I don't know someone is interested to be in the pool and yes,you and me have to check the law(s) for multi-state gambling! Since,by being in a pool, then your chances of winning a decent amount of cash is greater...

questions on pools & past experiences
I don't see much need to address the specific problem of a member dying. It's a given that dying means you're no longer part of the pool. If the pool wants to admit a former member's spouse, that's no different than adding any other new member.
As far as somebody dying while in possession of a winning ticket, I'd lump that in with the plan for all tickets purchased by the pool. Once the pool buys tickets, the tickets need to go somewhere safe, and the pool will need to figure out where. Havin

Restaurant workers split $4 million lottery jackpot
They have an agreement that if someone hits with their own numbers, the others can't make a claim on it.(We'll see if they feel the same way if one of them hits.)
You don't need an agreement for that, because nobody is entitled to something that isn't theirs. What you need is a good agreement that covers who is in the pool, how many tickets the pool will buy, and how the tickets will be chosen and purchased. In the event that there is ever a dispute (and if any member of the pool wins you c

Regarding Members Paying into a Pool: Get 100% of the Pool money up front and advance play for a specifed number of drawings. Period...Have a Closed End Pool,ie. $5.00 each for 10 drawings=$50.00 per Pool Member every five weeks. Have it dated, signed and closed out, disolved at the end of the 5 weeks, then if you want form a new pool start all over. A bit simpler; if you don'y pre-pay you don't play. It's a step in the right direction.
