N.C. lottery staff win hefty bonuses
Hey Bingo Long:
I wouldn't use MA to compare for a number of reasons...
First, MA has by far the highest per capita sales (and way, way higher payouts than NC will ever have under its current legislation) in the country. It's a real apples and oranges comparison. Years ago, when it was first getting going, MA sold only $30 million a year in Scratch tickets. If you compared NC and MA based on Year 1 vs. Year 1, you might come away thinking NC was doing a great job when they may no

How to win more lotto for less money.
Absolutely Todd,
Our local syndicate once joined an online pools syndicate which shall remain nameless, after participating over a one year period we hit (1x5/6,3x4/6, 16x3/6's) , the reduced returns are not even worth mentioning. Worse still the high capital outlay by each syndicate member did not help.
I(we) are of the camp that online pools syndicate should be better regulated by government national and international lottery regulators with effective legislation. There is no protection

Sign the petition - eliminate computerized drawings!
Most Delawareans believe the state lottery is rigged. This article will only serve to support that theory. The director has been involved for years and it is apparent he doesn't care about the players (I say this from having the experience of claiming a prize). Take note that the Multi-Win Lotto starts at $50K and is presently at $122K. Considering it increases typically at $2K per drawing (3 times a week), it has been quite some time since the last winner. Any one remember why the Delaware Lott

Lottery Post member turns up the heat on the Hoosier Lottery
The playing people of every state do have power to force change. This change will come when we force with petitions on voting day in each state. What needs to happen is for the people of each state to force the issues on the Statewide elections. Force the State to return to machine games (I'd prefer the last winners draw the balls in a public setting like a football stadium or basketball, soccer ect.) The State does not want hand drawings? Why one might ask? Well, they said because it woul

Penn. woman Loses $20,000 In Jamaican Lottery Scam
DD:
Well said.
Allow me to elaborate; if you've never heard of the sponsor, and if you didn't enter their contest, odds are better than average that you'll finish somewhere below first place after all the votes are tallied.
Of course, there's always the remote possibility that they just like you so much that they'd pay you even if you didn't buy a ticket. If this is the case, remember, the more money you send them, the better they'll like you, and so it follows that the prize you did

Lottery: Promises and pitfalls
Rip Snorter said: If that's the smoke and mirrors trick it takes to cause voters to allow lotteries to exist, let her rip. The 'support' side of the equation almost certainly involves political rhetoric. ___________________________________________________________________________________You're absolutely right, Jack. Political Rhetoric. What a wonderful term that is! We use it to describe what the politicians regurgitate during their bids for public office, and the politicians use it to under

Wyoming voters to have no say on Powerball
Voters won't be given a say next year on whether Wyoming should join the multi-state Powerball lottery. The Joint Travel Committee voted 8-4 Thursday against sponsoring a bill that would have put a nonbinding referendum on the 2006 ballot.Opponents were reluctant to endorse a public vote that ultimately doesn't force any legislative action.Rep. Kermit Brown, R-Laramie, said the issue of establishing a lottery should be decided by lawmakers, not in a nonbinding vote by the electorate. It's a cop-o

Iowa Lottery approves self-ban for players
The Iowa Lottery Board voted Tuesday to allow lottery players to self-ban themselves from winning game prizes in order to stem problem gambling. After pondering the self-ban move for a few months, and following announcement of record Iowa Lottery sales of $210 million last year, the board felt the time was right for a self-ban, Iowa Lottery CEO Ed Stanek said. We want to maximize our proceeds for the state with everyone playing in moderation, Stanek said. We don't want our success to be at the
