Work place lottery pools work fine until they win some money and some coworkers not in the pool start thinking of the winnings as free money to be shared with them. Some will even file a frivolous law suit hoping pool members will opt to share their winnings rather than have the expense of a trial and a long wait to get their money. The other thing you have to do is make sure the pool chooses lump sum BEFORE you join. What if you join the pool, and after winning the pool the group (not you) chooses annuity?

Thanks, Just6ntic, I appreciate the feedback. I was thinking along the same lines. At least if you get the 3 right you'll get something back with the chance that if you get 4 or more right you still have a chance at the higher prizes or multiple 3's. I like the even spread it gives from your number pool. You don't get that with random selection from the pool...sometimes it pays off and other times you get burned. Is it unbelieveable that the courts would allow you to sue if you were hit by a drunk driver and there are no unbiased witnesses? Whether a claim has merit or not can only be determined by hearing whatever evidence there might be. Claiming that he had to have another pool member advance the money for his tickets suggests that he's telling the truth, or it suggests that he's clever enough to create that suggestion, because if he's lying he could have simply said that he chipped in his share.
