Will Powerball officials concede?
I do not think that powerball has to do anything but be powerball. If you do not like the $2 and $3 tickets then you can play mega millions which is having a good year because of this record run they had. But powerball is still doing good too. I do not know if powerball can have a record run like mega millions but it would be nice to see this year. I like that the jackpot grows faster in powerball now so going back to $1 and $20 million starting pots would be foolish in my opinion. They are goin

Will it hit $500 million by Friday night?
The projected jackpot is based on the cash value estimate and it looks like they are estimating a new record sales of around $250 million. The projection was $237 million on December 31, 2010 but ticket sales pushed the jackpot to $242 million. The first projection for the January 4, 2011 jackpot was $290 million, sales increased it to $350 million. and the record sales of $230 million gave a final jackpot at $380 million. It's ironic that PB doubled their ticket price to create record jackpo

Will the new Powerball break old record jackpot?
February 06 was the largest Powerball jackpot to date, won by eight Nebraska meat workers. ($365 million). With the new structure and added ticket cost, doe's anyone think that this record will fall? How soon? It's already at $170 million now! When (if ever) or at what jackpot level will you reluctant players start forking over $2 to play?

Will we see half a billion in 2012?
Not so fast their partner. Because powerball has a match 5 rule for when they reach record jackpots and that is set at $390 million for the next time it is high. They spread the wealth to other match 5 players instead of increasing the jackpot. So it will only increase 25 million after the $390 million record so that is $415 million with the rest of it going to match 5 players pool. So it will take at least 3 or 4 runs at the record before it hits the $500 million mark due to the match 5 pool ru

Powerball & Megamillions Growing
What are you talking about? The previous record was $340M. $300M is not more than $340M. I don't think you get it. The jackpot has to FIRST meet or exceed the current record(which now is $365M) before ANY cap is applied. For example, if PB rolled to $290M and then rolled to $350M, the cap will not be applied because $350M is not greater than or equal to the current record of $365M. This would be a case where the jackpot could roll to $400M+. However, if it rolls to $300M then $370M, THEN the cap

MM jackpot turns out to be $390m
$233 million cash!!!!? That's a TRUE WORLD RECORD. It even beats Euro Millions' record of $229 million set on November 17, 2006. On a side note, Mega Millions sold 212,819,366 tickets for Tuesday night's draw, which is another record (at least for the US).
