Dropping cash values?
a002:Good question. It could very well be that LONG-TERM interest rates (ie, the length of lottery annuities) have increased, while SHORT-TERM percentages have yet to do so.Don't let anyone talk you into switching to annuity, a002.

Dropping cash values?
CASH is good if that's your Choice, but ANNUITYis a good decision also.Honestly having 2 choices in a Lottery Winfall can be based on how a person wants to handle there winnings not everyone wants a LUMP sum and there are reasons for that. You can't say that CASH is better just like you can't say ANNUITY is better it all depends on the situation. There equal as far as how they would benefit the winner in the long or short term.

TEXAS joining Mega Millions!
I suppose TX will join NY in requiring Mega Millions players to make the cash/annuity choice when they PLAY, instead of after winning (since Lotto TX players still have to choose between CVO/AP when they buy their ticket).

TX to decide Thursday 7/31 which game
smd: I agree, I think it will be Mega Millions. My hope is that after they choose MM, that the Mega Millions states take the opportunity to go back to the drawing board a fix a few mistakes they made when they went from The Big Game to Mega Millions.Change the number pools: increase the size of the pool for the first 5 numbers, and decrease the number of Mega numbers. That will give everyone a better chance to win lower-tier prizes.Add a multiplier like Powerball (Power Play)Increase the 5+0 pri

Annuity Strikes Again
CASH is KING and ANNUITY is QUEEN I don't know about you guys but I'd rather be with the QUEEN because she's got everything a man needs. The King is a man who wantsit all at once but the Queen is a woman who wants it for a long period of time.

Annuity Strikes Again
Vdude:AFAIK they haven't claimed. Why on earth would a couple take the 30-payment annuity when they got to choose AFTER they won, and that FL has _no_ state income tax?

Cash VS Annuity IV
RJ:Elderly people get certain privileges (reduced bus fares, senior citizen discounts, an extra tax deduction, etc.)I was wondering if anybody thought lotteries should allow older players to collect in lump sum, but still require annuity payments to younger winners, in certain game(s).

MM 7/29/2003 (my 40th birthday!)
secret: Yes, NY still requires the cash/annuity choice when you PLAY. If you ever get to try Hot Lotto, however, it's after you WIN.
