Mega Millions - 07/22/2003
fja:The worst cash option % is in Colorado (40% of the annuity.)This is not to be confused with the 40% PRIZE RETURN in N.Y. Lotto 6/59 (a maximum of forty percent of SALES are paid in prizes).

Massachusetts
TG:My guess is that the INSURANCE COMPANIES (or whatever sell annuities to the Mass. Lottery) want to keep making money off of players' winnings. If the 6/42, 6/49, and scratch game winners were allowed to choose lump sum, the vast majority would, and the annuity sellers would have fewer chances to make money. As to why Mass. winners of Mega Millions ARE allowed to choose cash, it has to be the fact that Mega Millions is a multi-state game.

A must read and Cash didn't write it
i don't think the ability to spread the taxes over several years is an advantage to annuity....because tax laws change....you never know when the government will decide to start conficscating a larger percentage

even if you took annuity on 260 million wouldnt you still be paying taxes on the annual payments. so are deferred tax payments really better than one lump sum off the top....so what would you actually have for a total after 30 years of payments after taxes?

Both Jackpot games at $10 Million
HP,Continue playing Super 6. I'd also recommend Mass 6/42 and 6/49 games. Avoid HOT LOTTO at all times. That game should be axed unless they make annuity payments a mandatory process.

'Hot Lotto'-revise it?
I say, yes Hot Lotto should push the jackpots up and pay ONLY ANNUITY. You see, that will get the players really playing the game.

'National' game?
I hope they do merge. I hope the odds are 200M to 1. Minimum should be set at $25M. And because the jackpot might reach over $500M with ease, they should only pay in ANNUITY. I say over 26 years.

'Hot Lotto'-revise it?
With ND agreeing to sell Hot Lotto, I'd like to see the top field go to 40 numbers (5/40 + 1/19), keeping the eight lower-tier prizes as is, and lengthening the annuity to 30 payments, so that 100k jackpot rolls are easier to achieve. (The overall odds of winning would be so SLIGHTLY longer, you'd need a microscope.)Now we have to get Maine (after they join MUSL), DC, Delaware, PA, and RI to sell it.Of course, Connecticut would be a big help, but their 6/44 IS a very good game. I'd support CT sw
