$140 Million! Mega Millions Jackpot Larg
RJ:You mean, of course an Ohio winner of Mega Millions would choose after they win.The NY Lottery thinks it's a monopoly, which it is of course in NY. The NY Lottery's treatment of cash vs annuity actually has WORSENED under its Lottery Director (I met her in 1999 at a winners' press conference in front of a store), hired in 1999 by our (now third-term) Governor.

WINFALL tonight!
Brad:I thought the $5 million was the MAXIMUM that could be won in a single play. I guess the excess $400,000 (if there was no winner) would have been added either to tonight's lower tier winners, or part of the next drawing's $2 million minimum. The only jackpot winner before tonight made the bonehead mistake of taking the annuity; let's hope this time they choose LUMP SUM !!

$37 million Lotto TEXAS winner 6/7
I'm sticking with my opinion: Texas should NEVER have gone with the bonus-ball format, and should have stuck with a 1/59 like NY (without the 40% prize return and annuity selection problems). States like NJ are good models for lottery games.

Mass. 6/42 & 6/49
Unfortunatly true, I guess I'll have to just make do with the way Mass. is paying me my winnings. (Annuity may good for retirement, but winning the lottery not - investments now could pay off better in the long run)

MM Hits $80 million
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on June 04, 2003 Brad: I wouldn't count on it, because of VERY LOW interest rates. That's true - check out the incredibly high $50 million cash option - 62.5% of the annuity value!

Cash vs. annuity: Give it a break
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on May 01, 2003 Many of my posts have NOTHING to do with cash vs annuity; I would prefer showing everybody on this board my knowledge of lottery games around the US.To CASH Only,Posting the jackpot sizes of different lottery around the country and reposting the same opinion over and over doesn't prove you have knowlege of lottery games, it just prove you have an opinion and you can read a lottery webpage. PA Super-6...when will it end?
Lottoscorp:The Mass. keno game allows players to pick 1-12 numbers.Mass. however has two lotto games (6/42 and 6/49) that are still ANNUITY-ONLY. Many of their scratch games also don't pay in lump sum.

90-year-old wins Florida Lotto
Anyone who thinks he should take the annuity (payments until age 119) ought to be permanently banned from Lottery Post.

Michigan
Michigan Winfall began in January with millions of dollars left over from the final draw of the previous game. The first few drawings therefore saw lower tier winners receiving the unpaid prize money, since nobody won the (capped) $5 million jackpot in those draws. Since then, it's taken a month or more for the jackpot to reach the maximum. There has been only ONE jackpot winner in the four-plus months of Winfall; despite the length of the annuity, and the right to choose after winning, the playe

Scratch-off Hit !
This is the wrong forum, but, here's my 2 cents:I will NEVER buy a ticket where the top prize is paid only through an annuity (in this case, $50,000 per year, 20 payments, NO cash option).
