Unclaimed Powerball Jackpot set to Expire in NY
Regarding your question of finding the winner, as of last December the lottery claimed to be actively seeking the individual(s). I assume that holds true now.
I think that in New York any unclaimed prize money is returned to the player prize pool. For multi-state games like Powerball, all the participating states receive back their share of the jackpot sales. So New York won't be getting the full $73,356,671.49 if indeed the prize goes unclaimed.

Wheeling strategy
Hello friends. I started a pool at work and I'll be buying 500 tickets. It's for a 30 number pick 5 game. Treasure hunt in Pa. I plan on playing five, hundred ticket wheels. Is there any tips or strategy that would allow me the best coverage? For example if the group 16, 17, 18 is due I could use one of them for a key number wheel and create three key number wheels for three hundred and have two hundred leftover to try other wheels and so forth. Thanks .

So what would the "Holy Grail" of Pick 3 playing be?
012 123 234 345 456 567 678 789 890 = nine sets, or just about 8% of the singles pool. Seems kinda right to me, then.
(Btw: I personally separate the singles plays from the doubles entirely, and work my own stats on that basis - when figuring singles, I don't include doubles in steps, and vice-versa. I actually think the game kind of works off that system anyway; and, you'll find, numbers too come closer to purely random universe figures than otherwise.)

Curious if this tests out under analysis, Tia - does it? But then, the smaller you shrink that pool, I'm guessing it's not proportional: the more those odds wildly vary.
One should be able to test these kinds of theories easier with, say, pairs: there's only forty-five pairs in the game. Each play has three distinct pairs. So... er... that makes... math expert, step forward, save me here....

Help/Advice
Do you read American English? $1500 means 1500 dollars not 1500 tickets.
There were 10 of us in the pool and we each contributed $2/wk. The drawing was twice a week so we played 10 QP each drawing.

Pick 3 mini filters
If you had to eliminate just 50 straight numbers from the pool of 1000 straights. How would you.
Your filter has to eliminate more than 50 but less than 100..

Help/Advice
I'm assuming the pool will be PB, MM or a state lotto game so only one or two secondary prizes should concern you. In some states only one person can claim the ticket and they will bare any tax burden. Some of the prize could be held for taxes unless you're really generous. For prizes over $1 million, claim it as a group because the taxes will be much lower for many than just for one.
That being said, the best advice is probably contacting you state lottery and asking them.

Poll: New National Game October 19th - Will You Play?
I think it's done on an ongoing basis; each lottery picks 3 players at random who have completed a monopoly, those players go on the show. There will be multiple episodes produced every season. During the off-season they will just keep collecting players into the pool that they will choose from for the next episodes. I don't think it's going to be 'easy' to make a monopoly...remember players have to buy a ticket to collect each property, doesn't even factor in duplicates....obviously the lottery

Wow, so many incredible responses! I thank everyone for leading me on to think about all this in larger ways than I'd first imagined. Hopefully this kind of musing is entertaining, and leads us all on to better strategies.
Blackapple: That's a brilliant bit of deduction! And yes, absolutely, triggers and indicators are the next best thing to striking gold. But that's also a giant pool, of 75 boxes. Yes, the filters should be applied to this, after that short sum is discovered. How much can on
