Does joining a lottery pool " increase" your chances of winning the top prize?
I would guess that many more tickets are sold to individuals than to pool groups, since 1 ticket = 1 chance to win. I agree, you hear mostly about the individual winners and only occasionally a group win. And when a group does win, even a big JP, the amount each member takes home is often (relatively) small.

What actually happens when you win the lottery.
I've never heard of Texas, or any MUSL state really, advancing funds not received for jackpots. Seems like that would open up a liability for them. I did a quick search on Texas' regulations and found this: If necessary, when the due date for the payment of a prize occurs before the receipt of funds in the prize pool trust sufficient to pay the prize, the transfer of funds for the payment of the full lump sum cash amount may be delayed pending receipt of funds from the party lotteries. Basically

(Just For fun)- You part of a pool where one of the members decides...
With the folks in my pool, that would never in a million years happen! LOL. As far as the lottery splitting the money, in Texas they only pay one entity, not several. So we would have to form a legal partnership before claiming if we ever get so lucky.

The new odds for Mega Millions have been a failure!
Being a lottery enthusiast, I hate the low jackpots and odds just as much as the next player. But the lotteries do not have players' interests at heart. We can't even get to our first billion! As I've said and keep saying, this is exactly what they don't want. Every lottery director I have heard from (at last count, 5) dreads reaching this level. They're actually already thinking of ideas to prevent it from ever reaching/surpassing that point. They just didn't have the guts to go hig

Systems Do Work...
Somebody wanted the PB and MM rules changed so states with smaller populations and lower ticket sales could get better chances of winning the jackpot and the the 5 + 0 matches. If there was a 155,000 ticket LP MM pool, it would exceed the money bet in 22 states the last drawing. When the MM and PB challenges were 12 + 4, I wondered what would happen if somebody predicted 5 + 1 in that, but didn't play it.

Picks based on digit sum
If am reading right , the Sums becomes triggers for Pending prediction sets? The normal approach is tracking for DUE Sums and corresponding sets(Eg P3, P4) which can be stressful. You can start with Simulation of the filter(digit range 9-54), this simulation can be historical data or the POOL(5/39). Now you need to come up with a parameter to locate SETS for each Sum within the range 9-54, this approach should give maximum of FIVE SETS per SUM. A good read on Prediction points(sets) or Prediction
