Remain anonymous with a trust
Tom, RJOh, etc: I just saw that the cash value of Ohio 6/49 is now 50% of the annuity (instead of 44%). The change was effective November 24, 2002. I apologize.

Not the Lone Ranger!
Cash is the only way to go. If I want an annuity I will invest in one of my choice. I would own it. The statements will be mailed to me. The thinking that I would lose a lot of money because of the tax bite means nothing. What ever money I would recieve from a win is more than I have now.pegleg

Annuity's Thoughts - Jan 26th
Cash,If I didn't win the jackpot, yes I would be happy with the 2nd prize.. I believe they're about $175K MM or $100K for Powerball. Of course, I'd expect these kind of prizes to be given all at once. Don't be ridiculous. When I favor annuity, I'm talking about Jackpot prizes in the millions.

Last night's $53m Lotto Texas
Does anybody know what the two winners chose? (TX requires the cash/annuity option when you PLAY.)

Annuity vs. Cash Option
Hank: I live in NY and it's the same here; you MUST choose lump sum/annuity when you PLAY, and you _cannot_ change your mind should you win. I presume you prefer the lump sum (hope Andy didn't brainwash anybody into the annual payments).

For Andy (AnnuityisGreat)
Jazzy: I live in NY. When I play Mega Millions in NY, the rules REQUIRE that I make the cash/annuity choice when I _play_. If my ticket said 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS and I win, I _cannot_ change my mind.

Maryland players...
smd: Even the least-populated states (and DC) have room for a second annuity-based (with cash option of course) jackpot game. Hot Lotto would give DE two online games with a minimum $1 million or higher prize.

Maryland players...
Keystone Jackpot (and Super-7 before that) were pick-7 games with ANNUITY-ONLY jackpots. PA continued its tradition of jackpot games with strange formats with Super-6, due to the automatic quick-picks. My vote still goes to Hot Lotto .

Avoid Quick Picks
Analyst: I don't mind a friendly discussion over cash vs annuity. But there still are people who push annuities, and games that don't allow a cash option.
