I also live in NY. They're great to you because they're ANNUITY-ONLY! Don't bother forcing your opinions on us!

WINFALL news
Crap never mind. I kinda forgot that the 26 million is an annuity too. Well there goes my theory. Maybe not they should sell a lot of tickets still.

cashWhen lottery winners take annuity and when they or their heirs want the cash these places that purchase annuities will buy at a significant discount from face value. I would rather take the cash and do what I d----- well want with it.John

RJ: At the bottom of the Lottery Post homepage, it said newest member (#1059) was TakeAnnuity . Ironically, because of what we've discussed regarding Ohio 6/49, taking the annuity MIGHT be justifiable, though not in Mega Millions.

I didn't see TakeAnnuity post, but I think there are situations where taking the annuity would make sense. Any one who wins a large sum of money should seek the advice of good lawyers, CPA's and professionals who deal with large sums of money. Luckily, most lottery players will never have that problem.RJOh

The newest Lottery Post member calls himself/herself TakeAnnuity . NEVER put yourself in a position where a lottery would pay you through an annuity!

Looking to talk with other Lotto Winners
ANALYST: Will your book mention the cash/annuity issue (eg, 10 years ago very few big lotto games gave players a choice; now all do except the Mass. 6/42 6/49).

wow
Buckeye: I live in NY state. Unfortunately, NY _still_ requires the cash/annuity choice for Mega Millions be made when you PLAY (a ticket marked 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS cannot be changed if you win).

New lottery director in MASS.
The new head of the Massachusetts Lottery should try to change the rules of their 6/42 and 6/49 so that winners can choose LUMP SUM (Mega Millions winners in MA _can_ collect the jackpot in cash.) He should also work to phase out annuity-only scratch games.
