If in the future there was a $1 BILLION Mega Millions or Powerball Jackpot..
The option, One winning ticket, one owner of the ticket has the most votes by far with 14 votes. Tied for second are, I hope a lottery pool with 5 or more people win and 4 winning tickets, the JP gets split 4 ways with 5 votes each. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll.

TX Lotto players - Lottery Commission's sneaky rule change
I read about this change in the commission meeting minutes. If I recall correctly, this was done because of the low interest rates, and frankly sales have not been sufficient to support rolls of a million dollars. Even with sales at 1.3 million, remember not all that money goes to the prize pool. It is disappointing for the rolls to only be $250000, but, this game still provides retirement ability at much lower odds than MM or PB. Have you noticed how many times someone has hit a jackpot this

Virginia scratchers are the biggest rip off
Every so often in our lottery pool we will play a game on top of Mega million which is sometimes scratchers. Usually when you buy a row of 8-10 tickets you win something. The last three times we played every last ticket was a loser. I wasn't even tempted to go back and buy additional tickets in case I just got a string of losers because I felt used enough as it was. Atleast this time it was only $1 scratchers but it still burns me up they are so cheap and devoid of any entertainment value what s

Litigation Proofing your lottery pool
Great catch Ridge. I didn't make it down that far. Therein lies the first loophole. If he/she wins, the pool will argue he/she took liberties with their money or is that in black and white as well?

Would the lottery get upset if we post pictures of TOP PRIZE scratch off tickets?
In CA, large draw/lotto prizes that are unclaimed can go straight to education funding, not put back in the prize pool for other use. Scratch games are different. All the unclaimed tickets of varying size just end up making the game return less than it it should.(say, 69% instead of 71%) They can then use those funds to cover unexpeced prize liability from draw/lotto games, or offer additional promotions like raffles and 2nd chance, or create better scratch games.

Pari-Mutuel Powerball
Did not quite make it this time. Cali sales for Saturday's draw were a few million less than the first draw on Wednesday, $5.37M down from $8.09M. Seems like the inaugural PB draw for Cali got a bump from initial excitement. Still running a JP deficit going into the next $80M draw. Question is, since the Cali reserve pool is only a couple hundred thousand at this time, if PB is won on next draw, how much more would Cali have to cough up for the JP?

Buy A Large Amount Of Tickets - Best Method?
Quality over Quantity! I know a pool in CA that buys so many tickets the terminal runs out of paper and sometimes ink and they have yet to win as much as 5+0 in Superlotto which has far better odds than the multi state games.

Do you see PB jackpots of $300 mil plus a fluke going forward with California joining in soon?
That was an actual glitch where a number of terminals were printing duplicate tickets. (all 5 QPs the same) It may have continued to occur until someone (in this case multiple people) was denied a prize. (prizes) But someone in a pool got duplicates and alerted them so that the glitch has been fixed. http://www.azfamily.com/news/consumer/UPDATE-Mega-Millions-Mystery--146462605.html

jackpots can become so huge that it would annoy people. What would be the point of having a $700 mil jackpot ( if only) and have ONE winner? With a jackpot that size, one would think it would be won by a pool at best, then you hear its been won by Charlie Sheen or some wealthy dude who does not need the money to begin with.
