The September 14th powerball drawing
Does validated mean when you go to the lottery headquarters to turn in the ticket? If so, can you give them the ticket and come back later to pick up the check once you have decided whether to choose cash or annuity?

The September 14th powerball drawing
Secret: A. They won Powerball under the PREVIOUS format, when the annuity option was 26 payments. B. I'm not 100% sure, but the 60 days might start (for either ticket or both depending on the rules) when the ticket is VALIDATED instead of from the drawing date. I live in NY, which has _refused_ to adopt any such 60-day rule.

The September 14th powerball drawing
Two people won the September 14th powerball drawing but NO ONE has stepped forward Well, it's day 57, and those two winners only have THREE days to decide whether to take the lump sum or annuity They still have another four months to claim the prize, but if they don't come forward by Wednesday, they have to collect their payments in 30 annual installments

PA Super-6
According to the PA Lottery website, somebody hit Super-6 last night on a ticket with the WRONG choice (Super-6 players still musy choose _when_ they play, and the choice is binding.) The next jackpot is listed at $1,000,000 annuity/$500,000 cash, even though the game always had a $3m starting jackpot.

My fellow Americans...
If you are registered, please visit your polling place today. As far as the lottery is concerned, _always_ vote for LUMP SUM (and veto annuity payments :)

Another reason for the Cash Option
Yes, that's true. It also happened with the ohio lottery. The winners moved to Flordia after they won. Ohio still charged them tax. It went to the state Supreme Court, and the couple lost. They had to continue to pay Ohio state tax on the annuity.

Ohio SuperLotto...10/05/2002
How much have the jackpots been growing(in annuity) each drawing for this game since MM came on the scene back in May? The Super 6 in PA has only been growing by a half mil each drawing since PB started in late June. Also, how does the BONUS ball thing work? I read on the OH website that you don't pick it and it doesn't show up on your ticket(so how does it get there?).

Need advice
Rose: Assuming you would prefer LUMP SUM, and you want to be part of a lottery pool, you better make sure the pool agrees to the cash payoff. TX needs to adopt the 1998 federal guidelines (which should have been made mandatory) allowing players to make the cash/annuity choice _after_ they win (NY hasn't gone along either).

New Powerball info available
You do not choose the PowerPlay number. If you exercise the PowerPlay option, you are guaranteed $6 if you match only the Powerball (starting next week) and have a 40% chance of winning $15 (5x). The second prize bonus will be when a jackpot is HIT after reaching a record jackpot level. The regular second prize applies (with or without PowerPlay) unless the jackpot is a Powerball record. Very few, if any, PB winners will want the annuity regardless of their life expectancy.
