Ohio 6/49 Lotto increases by just 2 million (11m-13m)
I live north of NYC. I am very opinionated when it comes to what lottery games around the country SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be like. This not only covers the cash/annuity issue (thank goodness almost all US jackpot games have a cash option) but also other aspects of what lotto games are like.

TODD-Re: MEGA
Sounds like you forgot that the cash value of Ohio 6/49 Lotto is artificially low because their cash option winners DO NOT receive the full cash value that is used to fund those who select annuity.

MUSL "Hot Lotto" $2.2 million ($1.2 million cash) Wed 5/22
Joe: Of course not. I'm trying to make fellow posters aware of this NEW game, which is a mini-version of Powerball. Part of my plugging this game is for the benefit of those who play the Mass. 6/42 and/or 6/49, which both remain ANNUITY-ONLY. Hot Lotto is played in neighboring New Hampshire and five other states which also have Powerball. Washington DC also eventually will sell Hot Lotto .

One MEGA MILLION Winner
When someone marks in the numbers on the playcard themself they selected the numbers at random. The computer does the selecting at random on the quick pick play. No matter how numbers are selected they are all selected at random. To receive cash or annuity should be the option of the player. The state has the cash available for payment and should not be the states decision how you are to receive it. John

One MEGA MILLION Winner
Doesn't quick pick mean random? My #1 concern is how they wish to receive their winnings. Heaven forbid they want annuity.

You can't mean that!
Somebody JOKINGLY asked me whether I'd rather have $1 million cash or $100 million annuity, and then probably answered their own post by pretending they were me. No lottery could get away with offering a choice of $1 million lump sum or $100 million in annual payments. Not even Ohio.
