Most people probably justify playing the high odds games because of the jackpot and when the jackpots are close to record highs, they probably justify going over budget to buy more tickets. I knew people who couldn't buy cigarettes because they spent that money on lottery tickets. When I quit smoking it meant I had more money to spend, but I never budgeted it specifically to something else so I guess I'm not in that camp. If you lose a ticket, it is not considered abandoned property legally. It is still your ticket. So I would have some problem with allowing someone to lie (in your scenario) and claim they bought it. As others mentioned, there are cameras, etc. so I think your ownership could be established without any long drawn out litigation. Remember the lottery officials are the initial decision makers here. Once they determined your ownership, of course the other guy could file a suit but a half way decent

I don't know if interest dropped or not, because according to NYL website the lower tier prizes have seen the record won, which means more tickets sold. I hope people soon gonna understand that this game is actually WORSE than Sweet Million in terms of odds. P.S. Personally I do not play it, its just too unreal to win the 2 top prizes
