60-day period to choose
Last week I e-mailed the NY Lottery about whether they'll ever adopt the '60-day rule.' I got a response today saying that New York state law requires the cash/annuity choice be made at time of purchase, despite the 1998 Federal regulations.

Message in case ANY of you won (extremely unlikely)
If you want the annuity, fine. Maybe the company you receive yearly payments from will be the next Enron. As long as I'm allowed to choose LUMP SUM.

Lump Sum
There has NEVER been a case here in NY where somebody has won an annuity but was able to change the prize to cash. NEVER.

You are a poopy head, and stupid, and you smell! If people want Annuity let them choose, IT'S A FREE COUNTRY! Let people make their OWN decisions!! If they win, it's THEIR MONEY! They can spend it how they wish, they don't have to give to charity etc. They can keep it to themselves, because it's their money! So, just shut up!

Lump Sum
Here in NY, for instance, NY Lotto players who hit on a ticket with 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS are stuck with the annuity. I don't know yet if it will also apply to Mega Millions here.

If you win, expect any expert financial advice you seek to tell you LUMP SUM. If you insist that annuity payments are better, then you don't deserve to win.

Lump Sum
If the ticket doesn't say one or the other, the choice is still up to you. If it says annuity you PROBABLY can change it to lump sum within 60 days after you win.

With Annuity you get like 9 million a year! Isn't that enough! So after taxes you get like 275 million after 26 years! How much damn money do you greedy people want. All I need is like 150,000 for school and a new car and for some security for my family.

what would you do if you won 325 million
The annuity is _26_ annual payments. The cash value is 174 million. You DO NOT win less by choosing lump sum!

The annuity is in _26_ annual payments. You have to pay tax(es) either way.
