Pa. Lottery to pull the plug on Super 7
Pennsylvania Lottery officials announced the final drawing for Super 7 will be later this month, but it doesn't seem like players will miss the game. Officials cite higher jackpots in the Mega Millions drawing as the decision to cancel the Super 7 game. The last chance for Pennsylvania residents to play will be April 27. Super 7 was successful for the past year, Pennsylvania Lottery Deputy Press Secretary Kirstin Alvanitakis said, but people are more interested in games with bigger jackpot

Lottery winner lost money after investing funds
One cant lose that which they do not place up for risk I guess you've never heard of inflation. Assuming you didn't lose money to a fire or theft, over the past 20 year you still would have lost about 3% every year. That means that every dollar you safely saved by not investing 20 years ago would be worth about 55% of what it was when you stuck it in your mattress, and you'd have about a zero chance that it would ever recover. For those who think that investing their money in a bank is safe

Paying a jackpot over 26 years is too long of a time frame
yes the jackpot value is very misleading. But keep in mind the lottery does pay it, and are not the IRS. We pay the actual amount listed they told me a long time ago in an email. But of course they know it is not actual amount. and sadly most peopel think you get the advertised amount. I am a lump sum guy, but if the jackpot is as high as it is now I would not have a problem taking annuity if I had to. I would never even spend the principle if I tried, and no worries about investing and taxes

Hoosier Lottery
Hey Floyd, First let me say that as a rule I admire your posts. They are generally well thought out...well reasoned and well written. However, when it comes to the doings of the Hoosier Lottery reason (IMHO) does not apply. Your point is well taken. I have been estimating the Hoosier Lottery's sales per draw as well and my figures are very close to yours. During this run I estimate that they are selling approximately 950,000 tickets per mid week drawing and about 1,200,000 for a weeken

Probability of a MegaMillions rollover.
MM has rolled over. The cash jackpot is $61.3M; the advertised annuity is $105M. The average sales for a ninth draw is $25.6M. Every drawing on this run has produced above average sales though. Even so, average sales would produce a probability distribution of number of winners as follows: 086.43% 112.61% 20.92% 30.04% The exponential model function, for what it's worth, predicts the following long range evolution of the jackpot: Historical Av
