I don't like this. Last time the changed the game the told us it was for our own good that the increased the odds. Now they have come up with a way to make twice what players usually spend and eliminate a dollar and a dream fact by reducing the number of bouns balls. In a couple years when the complain about the poor sales which there will be, they will increase the bonus ball back up. Tada... all we got will be a simple increase (double) in price. Only way to figure that out is to take the amount of tickets sold divided by the amout of tickets you bought and thats your answer ;) For example if they sold 1,000,000 tickets and there are 7 Top Prizes of $700,000, technically your odds would be 1 in 142,857. If you bought multiple tickets, your odds would increase, and they would increase if they dont sell out =) Even the 2nd Top Prizes of $70,000 would be nice =)

I like that idea sully. Although when I get discouraged I usually just increase my dosage of Jack. I also increase it when I'm encouraged though. Pretty much any emotion can result in increased dosage. Which is considered a good thing in my circles.

What happens, happens, but Friday's drawing is nearly twice as likely to produce a rollover as a winner. The increase in the jackpot suggests that officials expect to sell about 68 million tickets for the current drawing. If there were no duplicate combinations that would mean that about 39% of combinations would be sold, and there would be a 60% chance of a rollover. Since there will be plenty of duplicate combinations only about 35% will be used, so there's about a 65% chance of a rollover.

Todd, thanks for your post, very interesting indeed. BUT before anyone goes out and spends more than what they normally do take a look the math. The odds of winning are long, VERY LONG. For us to win we have to be very lucky and there's very little we can do about it. The difference between buying 1 ticket or 10 is basicly zero. Yes your odds increase 0.000005122% but I'm sorry that's zero -0-. Heck go ahead and buy 100 tickets and compared to buying 1 ticket your odds are only 0.000056

Hmm, I think it depends on your perspective. While I am not a person who spends $100 on a given draw, I am not going to knock those who do. Spending $100 does not work for me. I only think it is egregious/unfortunate if a person is spending money he or she does not have just to play. In that regard, it would not matter if he or she is spending $1, $10 or $100 if is not affordable. Congrats on your win Increase . It's strange Increase, I play in a pool at work of about 18 people or so and I'm always asked will I still work if we ever hit. It's a hard question because there would be no need to continue working if we hit a 300 mil win , but then I think, I kind of like my job so it would be hard to give it up. Anyway, in the meantime lets get some smaller than 300 mil wins in !!!
