Lottery scam investigation comes to Tennessee
Includes video report
The Tennessee Education Lottery is cooperating with investigators as they look into one of the most elaborate lottery scams in U.S. history.
The scam was the work of Eddie Tipton, a former security director with the Multi-State Lottery Association.
Tipton has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to ten years in prison.
But his brother and his old college roommate were recently arrested as the jackpot fixing investigation expanded.
Prosecutors in Iowa say sur

Third suspect surrenders in national lottery rigging scandal
A third man charged in a still-unfolding, multi-million dollar lottery rigging scandal investigation surrendered to authorities in Iowa on Thursday, his attorney said.
Robert Clark Rhodes II was arrested last spring in his home state of Texas by authorities there, after Iowa prosecutors charged him with two counts of fraud for helping a then-top lottery security official allegedly rig multiple jackpot drawings.
Rhodes challenged the arrest in court, claiming investigators did not have suff

A consultant for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery envisions ticket sales steadily increasing from $450 million in the current fiscal year to $615 million by fiscal 2021 and net proceeds for scholarships rising from $85 million to $109 million in the same period.
Camelot Global Services' self-described ambitious five-year business plan proposes many changes, including overhauling the portfolio of scratch-off and draw-game tickets, increasing the lottery's $5 million marketing budget to $7.5 mi

Ohio Senate bill includes privatizing lottery
Critics say gaming corp. drafted language
The Ohio Senate's latest version of the state budget bill includes language to privatize the Ohio Lottery that is nearly identical to legislation drafted by a gaming company hoping to manage the $2.5 billion agency's day-to-day operations.
The language, drafted by GTECH, an industry giant that once ran the Ohio Lottery's back-office operations, was added to the massive budget bill virtually unchanged and without any public hearing. The inclusion of

Convicted embezzler to forfeit Kansas Lottery prize
Paul W. Lyle learned that he won the grand prize in a Kansas Lottery second-chance drawing at his preliminary hearing 11 days ago. Trouble was: The former radio executive was facing a charge of felony theft for embezzling a reported $87,750 from his employer, American Media Investments, which owns three radio stations in Pittsburg, five in Joplin, Mo., and five more in Texas.
The supreme irony: Lyle, 63, the company's chief operating officer until the theft was discovered in May, confessed th

what state do you think has the worst lottery?
By far the worst Lottery in the Country (and maybe even the world) is the Hoosier Lottery. Here are just some of the reasons why:
A history of scandal and corruption: The Hoosier Lottery has a well documented history of scandal and corruption. These are just a few of the high...or rather low lights:
1. Jack Crawford was the Hoosier Lottery's first Director. He was forced to resign after news of an affair with his housekeeper hit the press. While this scandal was not related to lotte

How an LP major jackpot winner could help lottery players
Here's the Board of Directors for GTech. I'll confess they don't appear to be all that sinister.
Dewey was Managing Director of Donaldson, Lufkin Jenrette Securities Corporation from 1983 through 1995, and as a member of its Board of Directors, and the name Jenrette has the ring of a US Senator or Representative involved in some scandal decades ago, but there mightn't be a connection, probably doesn't mean anything.
No mention anywhere of any of these folks being on the MUSL board.
