Did Michigan just lower their cash payouts?
I forgot that there are people on here that clearly do not understand annuities. The Michigan annuity prizes pay out 33,333.33 per year for 30 years per million dollar prize. The annuity is now funded with a lower cash value! I do not believe they made the change based on interest rates but maybe they only increased the cash amount for their 50th anniversary celebration. They are always making changes and not telling the players so I can only speculate. My point being Michiga

$1 BILLION: Historic Powerball jackpot draw set for Monday
Imagine if the same thing happened in Powerball for the Billion $$ jackpot. Those 52 winner in NY represent roughly 1 of every 10,000 tickets for that drawing. To reach an even billion will require selling about 130 million tickets, so if 1 of every 10,000 used the numbers from the previous drawing we'd have about 13,000 winners. They'd each get about $38,253 before taxes. I wonder how many would quit their jobs before finding out they need a job to pay the bills? The cash you will get

Major claim deadline approaching for Illinois lottery winner of $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot
Interesting options this winner(s) has: 1. Complete anonymity 2. Cash Lump Sum Always the best (imho) 3. Annuity https://www.usamega.com/mega-millions/jackpot/annuity/il/2022/7/29 Starting with the 1st payment of $11.71 Million AFTER state and fed taxes are paid , then going up. Payment # 15 would be $23.16 Million take home (provided taxes stayed at the same rate). The final take home payment of $48.12 Million ( If taxes stay the same in 29 years). Lots to ponder for this

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
No Jackpot Triple Play winner last night and the jackpot grew to $1.45 million. If there is no jackpot winner for the what I believe will be the next five drawings, then on February 28th it might be advertised at $2 million. The last time that happened, the first draw for $2 million did not produce a winner. With the following draw for $2 million, somebody won it. Here's a cut and paste from The Florida Lottery's website about what happens if there is no winner once the jackpot reaches $2

If you won big - would you take the cash option or annuity?
Cash. At my age my life will run out before the money. My kids can have/fight over the rest. Unless you are VERY trusting, there could be a time with the way the world/economy is going that the annuity would not be completely paid. What could/would a person do to get the rest? Pay a lawyer to help you.....hmmmmm. Give me the cash. An annuity might be a good idea for someone in their 20's or 30's to avoid the possibility of blowing all the money at once. I'll be 67 next month. Gi

Lump Sum Or Annuity? :)
You find a dollar on the ground. With that dollar you decide to gamble on the Lottery. You pick the numbers 6, 22, 32, 40, 50, 53. You watch that night's Lottery Draw. Ball 6 pops up. You smile a bit skeptically. 22 pops up. Your smile begins to get a bit wider. 32 pops up. You are now smiling even bigger. You are now a winner of at least $5 no matter what. 40 pops up. You are now ecstatic. You won $50 at least! Woo hoo. 50 pops up! Yes! You just won $10,000! Field goal! You begin dancing

$750 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot surges to 4th-largest ever
Even USAMEGA does the 24% automatic deduction. I am just doing the math for the 13% and the State taxes that are due. I believe it gives a realistic view of how much you have really won. Thirty years is a long time. For us elderly players we can count on changes. Higher taxes. Sickness and death. I hope to find experienced and honest help with my winnings. I do not like it when winners quote the Annuity or the Lump Sum and thinking that there are no more taxes due. The winners who t

4 months later, mystery and rumors surround Mega Millions $1.5 billion jackpot
South Carolina is anxious for the winner of the Mega Millions $1,537,000,000 jackpot to come forward and claim their ticket so the state can collect on the windfall of taxes. If he ticket holder(s) take a lump sum cash payout, they will receive $877,800,000 before taxes. The I.R.S. would take 24% or $210,672,000 off the top, with another 13% due on April 15, 2020. And, the State of South Carolina would receive their 7% tax of $61,446,000 which they have already figured into their budget. F
