This weekend, there is some poor IT guy doing server backups at DHCR instead of at home celebrating, who when asked by one of his lucky 7 co-workers if he wanted to join the lotto pool said, Nah, I'm good dude, but you guys have at it. They've been doing the Millionaire Raffle for a few years now but this one is the best ever in terms of chances to win. I've been buying a ticket every payday, and other times, and have managed to get 6 tickets so far, and will buy another this weekend. I buy tickets for a pool at work. There are 10 of us, and we each kick in a buck for the draw. So far the most we've won this year is $100 on PB. You must have a pretty big group to buy 435 tics, or y'all are kicking in a bunch of $$$.

Yea, years ago I worked in an office that did a office pool once a week for Take 5. We would have $30-$40 a play and the best we ever did was 3 of 5. The guy running it luved Take 5, we would play on Wendesdays (maybe that is why no real hits?) I am going for the 30's right now as they have been kinda slow in the last few draws.

Mathematically you are correct, which I pointed out in my post. What I was explaining was that when you pull numbers from the same pool, such as Pick 5, Pick 6, or the white balls in Powerball or Mega Millions, they are more prone to being numbers spread over a wide range. This is why you draw up the rules before you get the money. After the rules are drawn, you get every individual to sign, especially if it states if money is not in by certain time, their portion would go to the rest who paid their due. Without a good foundation the pool will likely cause what you're seeing in Canada.
