Workers Win $15M Lottery Jackpot After Playing Wrong Game
Wednesday June 29th, 2005I understand how easy this can happen. I run two Lottery Pools. One is the Mega Million and I have 26 people in the current drawing. (This Lottery Pool I've been running for over a year.)In addition, I run the Die Hard Lottery Pool. We normally play all the Texas Games (Cash Five, Texas Two-Step and Lotto Texas). This game only has 11 people playing it.Most of the time, both group will expire at different times. But one time both games needed tickets. I mistakenly

NY lottery pool members sue over Mega Millions jackpot
A Manhattan judge has frozen most of the Mega Millions lottery winnings of a Mount Sinai Hospital employee and has told three co-workers who pooled money to buy tickets with him they may proceed with their lawsuit to get a share of the prize. The lawsuit against John Piccolo says he kept $175,000 in lottery winnings that he should have shared with the three co-workers because he used their money to enter the Nov. 2 drawing. The co-workers' court papers say each of the four should have received $43

Powerball pool opinion
A coworker and I are planning to start playing Powerball in a pool. We plan to put in $2 every payday(we are paid every 2 weeks) and buy tickets.Since we'll have $4 to work with, we are trying to decide if we should play 2 drawings with 2 tickets/each or buy a ticket for all 4 drawings that will occur over the 2 week payroll period. We plan to just keep it with the two of us and don't plan to add anyone else. I'd like some opinions on what would be the best way to play.Thanks.PrisonerSix

factoring in "inverse" results in sets?
I don't have any post-high school advanced math training/education, and I'm struggling to accurately describe the problem, so I'm hoping someone here has some ideas, can point me in the right direction, or at least help me quantify the problem a bit more :)The problem in a nutshell I've got is: is there a general mathematical way to account for a pool of X numbers taken from a sorted set of more than X numbers, where sometimes the X numbers are taken from the start of the set, but sometimes from

MM Drawing for Friday 02-25-05
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on February 25, 2005In 99 of the last 273 drawings, all the winnings numbers were in a pool of numbers from the previous 16 drawings which had 36-46 numbers. There are 37 numbers in that pool tonight and using past history I calculated the chances of the winnings numbers being in this pool as follows.5 numbers 36%4 or more 73%3 or more 94%2 or more 99%*1 or more 99.9%* the only way to get a true 100% is to include all 52 numbers. Mega Millions lottery jackpot leaps to $96 million
Don't get me wrong, I like the excitement of the 100+ million jackpots, it just means more work for me. As soon as it hits 100, everybody in my office starts running to me with money in their hands begging me to run a special pool (in addition to the regular one we play all the time). I use to just add them to the regualar pool but my regulars got tired of everyone jumping on the bandwagon and cutting into their cut of the jackpot if we won - so now I have to start up a separate pool when the
